Good find! I searched for this part and I wasn't finding it... Unlikely to have any significant signal processing (4 LUTs and just a few multiplier/accumulatr). It's probably a convenient interface chip for converting DAC's LVDS to I2S. "Master" bus interface, I suppose. PLL is always needed for synching. As I understand, both FiiO and iBasso uses "GW1NZ Ultra Low Power" as their FPGA and it is not a DSP FPGA, so unfortunately, HW PEQ is highly unlikely:

The standart GW1N has DSP features but not GW1NZ. Here is the datasheet:

This is, I think, the reason of fancy "master" word in the adds:
...and this is most probably what the DAPs are using the FPGA mainly for, besides working as a buffer:

It is mostly for buffering, phase correction (also converting to I2S), I think. But they do have the potential with this architecture, though, if they would just use a better FPGA there and do some high quality PEQ for all audio inputs. Yes, for sure, PLL is always needed.Good find! I searched for this part and I wasn't finding it... Unlikely to have any significant signal processing (4 LUTs and just a few multiplier/accumulatr). That just means to temper with all data being retrieved ? Like Sony ? Common manIt is mostly for buffering, phase correction (also converting to I2S), I think. Whoa. Interesting. What type of music did you listen to it with?I haven't yet. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about Annhilator at this point. It's undoubtedly an excellent IEM and up there with the best IEM's I've heard. However, I find it a little boring. It does everything quite well, but there's nothing that it does better than anything else I guess. The treble is its standout feature but I still prefer Traillii's treble. To me its treble sounds less cohesive with the rest of the response compared to the bird. Bass is pretty average too. It's quite dry.

What I am saying doesn't degrade its value - still the best portable audio player I have ever heard. Unfortunately it is not what many people have though about it being the DSP master mind of an FPGA implementation. It, as said, acts as an I2C bus master, buffers the data from different sources, handles the clocking itself very precisely avoiding any phase /precision issues, also removes the need for an XMOS chip, I2C master so several slave sources can provide data - apparently 4 I2C channels for providing >16 bit data. So, a very intelligent implementation. But that is probably the whole story behind - nothing like DSP etc. That just means to temper with all data being retrieved ? Like Sony ? Common man
This is pretty much what I said long time ago:

"I would expect that the FPGA is (I haven't seen an official technical writing from iBasso) used mainly for buffering and jitter control. I don't think any DSP functionality is in there. Even some smaller devices that don't want to use the internal DAC of the Bluetooth chip and want to redirect the bitstream to the main DAC use an FPGA based buffer/ jitter control in between, as the Bluetooth on-chip clocks are not high precision."

I think I’m going to try my luck and get a Ti, if I do I do, if not then oh well. We shall see. I’m over the whole announcement thing, wish it was done differently but whatever. Looking forward to next month!

Well, there's always the L&P LP7 TI to look forward to at the end of the year.I think I’m going to try my luck and get a Ti, if I do I do, if not then oh well. We shall see. I’m over the whole announcement thing, wish it was done differently but whatever. Looking forward to next month!

Yeahhhhh I’m not sure about spending that kinda cash on a non android DAP, lol. I have zero doubts that thing will sound damn amazing though.
