Hi.

Did you remove 1 of nichikon FW ?
so, it's seems to there is same 470μF but only 1.

let me know why ?

Since both caps are soldered together, it's safe to remove ones or change values to match. It works better this way with my mod. Well, you can try removing and see for yourself.

i see.
today, i will get OS-CON(470μF) same as sony's WM1Z using.

so, let me try :)

OS-CON? I'm not really sure if that will fit in amp module but you can try. :)

By the way, It has 7-0-7V spec output from regulator and has 11V from measured voltage so it needs at least 16V cap.

Hi :)

thank you for your information about 16V cap, yes i know.
and, just got the OS-CON yesterday (sure 16V 470μF).

I was able to install it normally, but more one. :p
because it was a little too big. LOL

so, 1 OS-CON and 1 FW now.
all right, sound is so smootness , like Silk.

Well, good for you. Mine was too large and I use the alternative that works. I don't use OS-CON because it's not suitable with my design though.

For early advanced ROM users who may still have performance issues, please ask me for updated file that should improve stability.

I've finished modding amp module design. Here's the details about parts inside AMP1 module.

-20 tantalum caps (forget the values sorry)
-2 x 470uF aluminum capacitor (Nichicon ones), soldered together
-2 dual opamps for voltage amplification (no info on opamp)
-4 dual opamps for buffering (no info on opamp)

I bought some AMP1 modules and tried modding around with it. I think having AMP module is a great idea for modding DX200 without voiding warranty since you can buy amp module to replace.

The amp module costs around $150 so I expect the mods will arrive sooner or later somewhere since I saw some people started modding it already. I think selling modded amp module at $250-300 would be a good upgrade price for many. Maybe $400-500 will be possible for some exceptional high quality works but higher than that would be over half of DX200 cost itself so I don't think it's possible for most DX200 users.

I'll buy AMP2 and examine it soon after coming back from Munich show. I'd love to mod current mode amplification with my preferred current feedback amplifier design too. :)

Keetakawee

Now we need somebody to compare AMP1 vs AMP1-WindowsX-mod vs AMP2 in terms of sound characteristics....

I believe I can since I am in same city as him. Just wait headphone shop import amp2 module and WindowX came back after Munich event.

Only Amp1 to WindowsX mod Amp1 brief impression by balanced end and both device is on his advanced rom.

Sound of instrument expressed more natural, vocal also. Everything got more body while not losing any analytical ability, actually mod one got more clarity than normal one. Seperation went to another level. With multiple instruments song, I could pin point instruments easier than normal balanced one.

Thank you for your brief impressions.
I wonder what helps more - the advance mod or the amp mod?
Also, I wonder what sounds better: AMP1 modded or AMP2?

Back from Munich now. I also bought some AMP2 modules yesterday. Will inspect AMP2 and post my finding soon. By the way, I'm taking advanced ROM to the next level right now so expect major update soon. :)

I inspected AMP2 today.

It's gonna take a while until I finish circuit inspection, draw up alternate opamp design and upgrade AMP2 module with my own design. Initial impressions of AMP2 gives fuller and smoother sound but also less quiet and has worse transparency as well. I'm not sure how much modding can improve with AMP2 module since AMP1 seems to have lower noise and cleaner sound from design.
