iBasso DX200 Bug Thread - Post Any Firmware Bugs/Issues Here

Anyone else have issues trying to download apps from websites? Every time I click to download app it fails to load the next screen. Tried with Deezer, Tidal, and a number of google play apps. Tried downloading from google play website and it shows no device available to install app. Yet if I go to my phone and check the DX150 is one of my devices. When i click install app, the next webpage is not available. It says "net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME".

Most probably you try not to download an apk file, but to install it from a web site, but you have no Play Market installed to handle the URL scheme for installation.

I had google play all set up. I could go into my phone and see my DX150 was a device on my account. I ended up installing your latest firmware. Got google play store and all that. Went to try it again, still would not load. I am also having the noise/cracking in my left ear. Being pretty much deaf in my right ear, the cracking is too much for me to hear the music. Device isnt mine anymore, sent it back.

I have updated the DAP with the latest firmware launched, but I´m still having ONE small sound cut with EVERY song I play from Tidal, both online and offline modes. The sound cut happens two or three seconds after the start of the song, during every song. It´s really annoying, and I don´t really know if the problem is caused by the DAP or by the Tidal Android app.

Is anyone else experimenting this issue?

Has anyone experienced loud sonic clicks between songs when using tidal? I cannot figure out how to stop that and feel like I'm hurting my hearing, it's really ruining my experience.

Using latest version of Tidal with hifi subscription on the latest dx200 firmware.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Me too and I just bought it and with some trepidation finally got Tidal to work. The popping noise between songs is highly annoying. Let's hope someone has a fix.

About the pops and click sound in the middle of track change or between play/pause, is there any update? I see a few reports in the threads but did not see much response. @Paul - iBasso?

From what I can see for my unit so far using the latest FW modded by Lurker, the pops happen only with android both in Mango player and other 3rd party players. The pops completely disappear if I enable automute from the sound setting in Android. However, it cuts abound 1 sec from the start of each song.

In Mango mode, this is not a problem. I just can't stand it's laggy UI response.Plus I would like to use 3rd party players like UAPP and Neutron for their more superior EQ features.

Which amp do you use, and which headphones/IEMs? I don't think many users experience this problem, at least to an extent to file it as a bug.

Hey Lurker, just the plain old amp1. Doesn't matter which iem/headphone I use since I tried different headphones/iems (nt6/333/cascade/TH-X00). The more sensitive the iem the louder the pop. The pop sound stays at the same loudness on both low or high gain.

The clicking an popping noises have happened since long ago. I think that variable bit-rate lossless formats (mainly FLAC but sometimes with ALAC too) are the culprit. Every FLAC song has a different bit rate and between songs the DAC chips adjust to the new bit rate with a click and this is probably a "characteristic" of the SABRE PRO chips. High Definition streaming services (i.e., Tidal) probably encode songs as FLAC (being an universal format). The clicks were loud and annoying. The clicks happened either with the stock amp (AMP1) and the with amp2 and they happened with any headphones I tested (Audeze Sine, Audeze iSine20, Sony MDR-1)

Having said this, all clicking disappeared with a firmware update that Paul provided by email (it was related to DXD FLAC hissing but solved all FLAC ailments too; see page 11 of this thread). The FW was named 20170830-dfu.

Therefore, it could be that newer DX200 have the FW update and older ones do not. And probably it is not related to when the product was purchased due to dealer stock.

Hi, I managed to solve the loud pop noise I hear with my DX200 every track change and/or track play/pause. Thanks to @Lurker0 again for providing the solution. It turns out that I just needed to update the XMOS FW as mentioned by @Paco Lopez as well.

DX200 is now perfect for me. All issues sorted out and DX200 is now my most versatile DAP. I can say that DX200 now allows a desktop setup in a portable and flexible package. I know a lot of people gave up on their iBasso DAPs for different software issue. Nonetheless, iBasso can no doubt make excellent hardware. iBasso is lucky to have @lurker around. Not many people had the patience of most people around here.

I had iBasso DAPs since the DX50/DX100 days, just sad that software is still letting them down for some people. Still making their platform open enough as possible for anyone like Lurker to modify and fix issues that otherwise would be catasthropic for a company.

@Paul - iBasso you should hire Lurker or anyone with similar skills to polish your software on your next DAPs before releasing it. I spoke to a couple of Audio shops here in Singapore which used to offer iBasso DAPs. They are not willing to carry iBasso DAPs anymore as they see demands falling due to past issues. (One says due to a change in your distributor) I could not find a shop yet who carries DX150.

Please don't let yourself slide farther as I believe you make better hardware than other Chinese DAP makers based on personal experience.

What format are you using? The XMOS would com into play for 24/192 up to and including DSD.

I tested this with a couple of music services (tidal, Apple music, spotify) and the popping sounds when skipping tracks are always there. I must say that at least for me the popping sounds don’t happen for every single track I skip. The popping sounds (usually a double pop) are like an amp that switch off and on. A couple of times after streaming for some time, using the volume wheel would result in popping sounds as well. I wonder if it’s the buffer size like @Paul - iBasso wrote that causes some kind of timeout of the communication with the amp? I tested with two different amps (am1 and am2) with same results.

Hello
Can we expect a solution for these maladies after all? Months have passed with a few firmware updates and nothing has changed.
