Another useful way of thinking about it:

You cannot damage a cable by adaption.

You cannot damage a single-ended amp by adaption. (within reason)

You can damage a balanced amp by adaption.

If you take those rules to heart, you can infer the answer to any question you can come up with, regarding this topic.

The whole thing revolves around keeping the -L and -R signals separated in a balanced system. They must never touch. If you maintain that, anything is possible.

I’m a little behind on the balance amp/cable products. Even tho my FocalClears came with a balanced xlr cable. And I do own a Violectric balanced amp.
Am I suppose to buy a 4.4 mm balances cable to pair with my Focal Clears. To achieve the best quality output the Ibasso 160 offers. If so any one know a descent one to purchase.

I notice ibasso, like hiby, have chosen to retain the option to leave gapless playback off in their mango player (both pure mango and android apk).

Why?

Is there something that happens to the bitstream when gapless is invoked that 'in theory' affects sound quality? Or perhaps there's another reason people like to have 2 seconds of silence interfere with their favorite albums? Especially those classical pieces with connecting movements and prog rock concept albums. Or is this player so convincing that silence must be interjected to remind the listener it's only a facsimile of the music, and they're not really there?
