@MotleyG
Have you already emailed Paul@iBasso.com ? Here in this forum he seems to look in only sporadically.
He HAS said in the past that if you need to get a hold of him, email is the best option. I have emailed him in the past, and he has answered me on the same day pretty much every time (though I don't know how he find the time, he's like all over the place)... :)

Thanks for this suggestion, an email has been sent to @Paul - iBasso today. Hopefully a quick fix is posted for the Mango Player issue. And fingers crossed that iBasso also addresses the brightness request.

I already received a reply from @Paul - iBasso for this. Seems for the brightness they have already tried to reduce the brightness further, but this is the lowest they can get. This was the manufacturer's designed spec by the sounds of it. So that is unfortunate. He has reported the Mango Player issue internally for resolution.

The change "A different approach to control brightness at low levels" in my add-on was an attempt to address this problem, and it makes no significant difference. Just because the backlight of this display at its absolutely minimum level is too bright.
@Lurker0 Thanks for making the effort, and for providing the extras in your mod. The reply from Paul today suggested they did what they could at iBasso to reduce this as well. I saw in your add-on notes that you tried to use an alternative method. But even at the 0% setting I find the DX160 screen is very bright at night. More than any Smartphone or tablet I have owned to date.

Which version do you have, out of curiosity?

I have a 2020 version in red. That colour looked good online, but is even better when you get to see it for real.

Nice! I have the 2019 verion in grey. I was just wondering if the brightness levels were the same between versions, since they sourced new screens on the 2020 version?!

I’ve always had black devices, iPhones, iPod, and Android. I wanted this one to be different and the red did not disappoint!

I thought about the red one (and for the same reasons) in the beginning, but I thought it might be TOO gaudy looking. While it turns out to NOT be that clashing, I am happy with the silver/grey (whichever your eyes call it) and think it it a very nice looking device. I DO still like the red though.

Hey guys. I believe I can help you with the bright screen issue that you have.

There's an application called 'Screen Filter'. What it does is simply adds darkness to your screen on the top of other apps. Back in the time before samsung added extra dimming option, I was using it so that I could read in the absolute darkness.

I used it with dx160 since the first day and it helps. The only thing is that navigation bar is not getting darkened. You can give a try.

Ahh good one! I remember that app. I used to use it on my Samsung Note 10.1 2014 tablet to make it look less yellow. IIRC If any app has an overlay, it has to be turned off, or the change will not show (not just on that screen, but any screen). Maybe that is why the navigation bar shows as normal???
