Update : well i guess i will go to dealer to make sure what's the problem then

Hi, i just bought this dx160, i wonder if this normal the device can't be recognized in usb dac mode ? Port not become a problem since i already installed another driver from various device such as shanling, ifi and fiio and not problem, but this device in usb dac mode not recognized and also there's some kind interference noise in song when this used as usb dac mode

I wonder if there's any fix for this problem (noise and not being recognized) ?

oh also i find out the factory usb cable is defect, cannot be used in this device to enter usb dac mode
Rotate your usb-c cable and plug in

You need to use a bi-directional cable for DAC mode. Something like this. The cable that came with the DX is not that cable. The only thing it can be used for is charging (I know, WTH right? hehe). Get the right cable to get it working, then see if it still has noise. I am not sure why the cable included with the device is NOT bi-directional, since it has a DAC mode?!

It does look like you installed the driver from iBasso site???? Are you on the latest firmware? Also, make sure, in the Mango player, you put it into USB DAC mode.

No, the cable works for me. I use it with Linux.

Pretty sure it has some problem until I rotated the usb-c port.
Proof is the image below. See how the errors appears on the top, that is before I rotate the usb-c jack

The cable itself seem to have some issue probably

I see what you are saying, I think. I have an old lightning cable that i tried using on my new work iphone, and it would only charge when plugged in one way. It was almost like a straight through cable compared to a crossover cable.

So your saying that the stock cable works if you flip the end?

i just found this fact, when i tried to connect my btr 5 used as usb dac with stock dx160 cable, everything's fine... No distortion and the device smoothly connect and detect, weird huh, oh also in same port...

When i connected to dx160 with same cable, i only can do charging and file transfer..., also i already turn on usb dac function, with hiby cable i can use usb dac mode but get little distort sound as i mention before, cant go to usb dac mode with stock cable

What do you mean by “ rotate usb c port “

Maybe he referred me to tried another port, then still didnot explained, why i can use my fiio btr5 as usb dac with stock cable perfectly instead of the dx160 in same usb port, i just wondering now whether i got defective unit or not...

Will bring this unit to dealer soon to compare to another unit as well

If I connect the stock cable one way doesn't work, flip the usb-c connection around (meaning I take it out of the DX turn it over, and plug it right back in), and it works, but with a weird distorted sound. I have seen others have issues with the stock cable. I don't think it is defective, I just think it is either and old type c cable, or very cheap, or both or is simply not compatible with the DX (for whatever reason)

If I use one of my Note 9 charging cables, it works just fine however I plug it in. Simple as that (IMO). I have also tried my older micro-usb cables (with the micro to type c adaptor on it) for my older tablets, and phones, and etc... They all seem to work fine. It is just the stock one provided by iBasso, and oddly enough the ones provided by Fiio for my older X5, and X3II, that don't work for USB DAC mode. I am just stumped as to why the stock cable works in one player but not another.

Aka, flip the port upside down and plug it into the dx160 again.
For some reason, it worked for me

Precisely yes

i dont think that is true.. the cable supplied with the dx160 is bi directional, which mean it transmit charge and data, usb dac is another thing, i still cant figure what is the reason

using the original cable, u can still transfer file into the internal storage but the usb dac mode will turn out as unrecognizeable icon, and the icon will only occur if u use usb 2.0 port, not 3.0 or 3.1. for storage mode usb 3.0 will detect the storage same as usb 2.0 port but when u turn in dac mode, nothing will happen, no icon or anything

people said that is a cable issue, and it does work by using samsung original cable, which have the same length as the original one,

people said its driver issue, whereas i connect to my laptop usb 3.0 without installing any driver and it detect the dac mode instantly

whereas on my pc it wont detect until u install the driver given from the website, only works on usb2.0 back on the motherboard

what i see here is hit and miss, u just try any possible way to connect in dac mode, no standardize way to tell u the steps required

What system are you using?
Seem to work fine with me on both Windows 10 and Arch Linux

The Blon BL-03 is really great on the DX160. Using it with Effect Audio Maestro 4.4 balanced cable. Loving it. Just hate that I have to swop the left and right side as I need to wear it underside ear instead of over the ear for a better fit. Made a lot of difference in the sealing and the overall sound in general.
I have the BL03 with balanced too. It does sing with the dx160. It still lacks details tho. Once my custom balanced cable is made, I'll hear if the voyager 3 scales well with balanced

Funny I find the Blon's the only IEM's I own sounds better SE.

The Bass it's just too much... It bloats too much with mid range frequencies.

The Starfield and AQ3 that's another story...
