Can’t speak to the earlier versions, but I have the 2020 version and I have not encountered one bug or heard (or experienced) any sluggishness. The DX160 is certainly powerful enough (I’ve run my Audeze LCD-2C of it with no issues). And it’s small size makes it perfect for portable listening. If the price is significantly lower than its usual $399, grab it.

Awesome! It's around $320 now so I am eager to grab one!

No sluggish behaviour as per date noticed on the 2020 version. I am using the Hyperion launcher and an icon pack and it navigates in a fluid manner without stutter. Obviously you cant compare it to a flagship smartphone running android. This is my third android player, the others are gone due to me hating the overall android UI feel. Wish there were more cases available that don't cost 50 (your currency).

I am also looking into the Mitter case. I can't seem to find any other accessory option.

I mainly use it for qobuz and find it pretty sluggish. To the point where I don’t like to explore for music on it. Sounds great though.

Spotify and Tidal for me. Any feedback in performance with those apps?

Hi I’m also looking for one too on BlackFriday. Can you DM me the info?

Also - where can I find more info about customizing the DX160 software and recommended launchers etc? I saw some discussion here but there are a lot of pages to sift through.

I’m torn between this and the M11, but wanted to know if anyone has run PlexAmp or Plex on the iBasso. Help?

I auditioned both and just bought the DX160. Highly recommended device for sonic quality (the M11 is a faster and smoother operating DAP though if that matters to you). After about a day of testing, Spotify and Tidal streaming works fine on the Ibasso too.

Was that the one thing that was better in your opinion?

I just ordered a red DX160 this morning. Can’t wait!

How can I verify that I have the 2020 version when I receive it?

Yes that was the only one thing that's better in my opinion. I love DX160's balanced sound, especially the holographic feeling that M11 doesn't have (it's also a bit bright for me personally). DX160 is also very powerful on the 4.4 port. I have owned more expensive DAPs and this one drives my Hifiman Ananda and Aeon Flow 2 so unexpectedly well!

So jealous you got the red color. I had to go with silver as that's the only color currently on sale in my region.

Just look at the back of the device, it says Ibasso 2020. That's the indicator.

probably unrelated to this thread, and probably a noob question but would I get the benefits of the balanced 4.4 port if I got a 4.4 to 3.5 adaptor to connect all my current iems that have 3.5mm ?

Such adaptor is not advised, in fact it may damage your devices. You can try the 4.4.mm connection by buying a 4.4mm balanced cable, assuming your IEM has a detachable cable (most of them do). You can get some for like 20+ dollars.
(edit: by the way, the other way around it's safe and ok, I use an adapter quite often for connecting a 4.4mm cable to 3.5mm input).

No you should not as it might screw up your earphones and device. For DX160 though, I highly recommend trying out the balanced output as it is much more powerful with better sound.

Can you use the 2.5mm balanced out with a balanced 0.78mm 2 pin cable and the blon BL03? I'm new to balanced outputs so treading carefully.

Edit: 4.4mm output with adapter for above cable? Mainly asking if the BL03 are OK to drive balanced.

Yes, but you will need an adapter to convert that 2.5mm balance into 4.4. I recommend this one by DD Hifi.
