Ordered! Can't wait to hear some AK DAC loveliness after my much loved Hp-p1.

Hello, I suppose the DX120 is DAC only for Linux/Mac/Windows and not Android ?

Why wouldn’t it be ? Just so as long as you are using a correct app that output digital audio over usb connection.

I’me not sure I understand: I have a Samsung Tab S2 Tablet and want to send some music I listen on the Web wôth my tablet on my hifi amp via a DAC. I supposed I needed a compatible Android DAC.

Oh, so this works as a USB dac after all? I thought it was meant to be a pure dap. Nicy.
I’ve read somewhere it had DAC abilities. I may be wrong. I hope I will have some precisions about this.

I got all my album art working when resized the jpg's to max 950 KB or so.

Did a test with 384 kHz 24bit flac files, and this do not work either, like the 384 kHz 32bit files.
Maybe i need another conversion software?
I used foobar2000 to conver DSF files to flac.

I was doing some audio work the other day...cant quite remember - but I don't think Flac will support 32 bit and quite possibly neither will it do 384 kHz
at least not by default...
Also to mention that I never add artwork for commercial released audio above 500 kb and usually add 600 x 600 size-wize
Some players that have to process hi rez or large artwork will hiccup, cause a delay between tracks and occasionally cause a restart! :)

Yes looks like you are right. The foobar2000 that i used, actually encoded in 24bit. The official flac decoder can't decode 32bit.
The ffmpeg should be enable to encode, but i can't find free gui with 32bit in it. Looks like AuI ConverteR 48x44 can do this, but i will not pay 100+ $ for it.

I also tested the dBpoweramp, it has 24bit 384 and 352,8 kHz, but this will not work in DX120.

Now i will stick with wav, the 352,8 kHz 32bit wav is same size as DSD256 and is more user friendly than DSD. Wav works on DX120 and on free PC software players.
I think the DX120 has not enough ram to uncompress flac into 3GB PCM data.

AuI Converter can do so much, but it is very expensive. I have not gotten around to it yet either.

This is an excellent finding. Thanks for sharing it

So,
what is the final impression with DX120?
Worth a buy? As I said, I'm on a road to buy my first proper DAP (After some obscure chinesse, Walnut V2s always in my heart <3).
And e.g. used Opus#1 is in the same price range also Ibasso DX150 (though I'm more about sound than usability) and finally, there are still some ibassos DX90 here and there.

I'm hungry for opinions!

Both the DX120 and DX150 are nice DAP's. For me It was hard choice between this 2.
I find the DX120 chase is hard to remove, you need to put strong force on glass panel or on screen to get it off (i don't use it). Other than that, i think it was good buy.

Never try hooking up single ended headphones to a balanced amp. You will short together the separate grounds in the amp/amp section of your DAP.
Custom Cams have advised me that they can produce a Balanced cable for me with a 2.5 Balanced Output to SE 2.5 Input will this still cause the problem you mention. Please bear in mind I am not technically minded so must rely on other peoples' specialist knowledge. Thank you for your Input.

Don't do it, period. Bad idea. I know it can be confusing, but it goes like this:
Most headphones have a single-ended connector, and are wired for single-ended use. Usually, these headphones will only have one cord, rather than two (one from each earcup).
Shorting things together is bad. Don't do it. Get a balanced headphone if you are determined to use the balanced output on the DAP.

+1 on what @SDBiotek already told you.

In general, IEMs are safe to use balanced (but you need the right balanced cable for them, and they need to be able to accept switchable cables), while for most headphones, you need to know whether they are internally wired the right way to work properly for balanced. As SDBiotek said, if they only have one cord attached to one cup, chances are they are NOT internally wired correctly. If you use the hedphones balanced, and they are not wired right internally, you can damage the headphones, and/or the source :frowning2: .
