Once you plug it into a revealing system all the shortfalls are going to be shown. You are not going to say that using the DX100 as a transport is going to out perform a Vekian Opus transport or Soulution 745. Let's be realistic here.

The DX100 is an excellent DAP and very good when used with it's line out.

I have had no problems using the DX100 as a transport with optical output.  It appears to sound as good as any other properly implemented transport.  I haven't tried coax out yet though....

Is this really the first? I recall seeing photos of modded/replaced caps from Taiwan in this thread before. You can search in this thread.

Anyhow, hope its worth it and hope it sounds good.

Need to confirm that for me anyway, the DX100 performs best, besides as a standalone DAP, on it's line out. Using the Coax out to a DAC, it sounds pretty woeful, very slow and muddy bass.......and congested sounding too. Was quite disappointed.

Not good news. I wanted to use the coax into JH 3a's

I am using the Coax out using a moon audio black dragon cable into my jh3a & hearing the opposite of what spkrs01 is hearing .

Sorry to beat the dead horse but I lose most of my cover art if I do any changes to the music files.  The thumbnails are still there in the Android directory folder but it does not link to the album.  I use cover art downloader but with 120GB of music having to redo them is a little ridiculous.  Since half of my music is HiRes the alternative player isn't going to help here.  If anyone knows where to store the cover art so that the player will consistently recognize them please inform.

I looked at that and pulled back 'cos I couldn't feed my Apple TV into it. The other thing I looked at was Wyred4Sound DAC2 which also uses ES9018 but haven't taken the plunge either.

You guys should be careful about falling into what 'X' DAC chip sounds like.

Yes, implementation, as with anything. The 95 has gotten good reviews though and the modified ones are very fine.

Anyone using the DX100 with Heir 8.A? My refund from UM is on it's way and the 8.A is on the very top of my wanted-list

I tried out BozeButtons DX100 with my AS-2b's and with a generic UE model at a meet up. Works great, shouldn't have any issues with any other custom
