Any tips on what it may fix?

I am not sure. I guess a few bugs but I have no issues so I don't know what the fix is.

Mine hasn't been able to make coffee on the 1.2.7 and 1.3.7 firmwares, maybe they'll finally take care of that!

Mine will make tea but I agree, coffee at times would be a good touch.

I've noticed every firmware inflicts with the sound. Do yu think this firwmare will change the sound?

There is no way to know until we hear it. I suspect, hope, that since 1.3.7 wasn't well received but 1.2.7 was, it will be along the lines of 1.2.7, which would seem reasonable. I have no problems with 1.2.7 so if I don't like the new software, I can always revert, which is a very nice option and for me, and to me, makes the DX100 all the more functional.

I hope, they mess only with SW part, cause for me 1.3.7 is better than 1.2.7. It has more natural sounding, but the main reason is that 1.3.7 has better attack and punching (impulse). If we are talking about detail and natural sound (not beatiful, tasty or other words), the choice is obvious here. It is 1.3.7.

And that is why it is great to have different choices. I do not agree with you but we are free to choose different firmwares to suit our own tastes.

Listening to The Black Album in 24/96 on my DX100 with the R1 and my 8.A... I'm amazed how well this 22 year old album holds up.

Hey Soren, do you listen to The Eagles?

I discovered that the more recent versions of the Hell Freezes Over concert DVD contain uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio tracks in addition to the DTS and Dolby Digital tracks.

I managed to extract the uncompressed 2-channel tracks from the DVD into FLAC files. Viewing the signal levels through playback software such as Fidelia, it is stunning just how the uncompressed tracks differ from the kinds of dynamic range compressed mainstream stuff we get nowadays.

It took a while to get used to how much less "loud" the songs are, compared to realising how much more dynamic range they have.

I'm not a fan per se, but we all have Hotel California on our short-list of test tracks, don't we?

For a moment I thought you were referring to the Black Album by The Damned. But then I realised that it was issued more like thirty two years ago - hell did that make me feel old!

I'd love a high res copy of that album!

Haha actually I personally do not use that track as one of my equipment auditioning tracks.

I bought the Hell Freezes Over DVD cos I wanted the concert version of Don Henley's Heart of the Matter, which is not included on the CD. Then I saw the note on the back of the DVD stating that the DVD also includes a 2-channel uncompressed audio track... and I just had to go extract the audio!

BTW I seem to hear differences in the opening percussive portion of Hotel California for the CD version and the uncompressed DVD version...?
