IBasso Audio IT03

I have been very happy with the CB13 cable. However, all the copper around the earpieces have turned green from oxidation! (The silver portion is unaffected, as far as I can tell.) I don't wear them at the gym, but I've been walking around with them in the heat, so I've sweated on them. Also, the places on the cable which I've touched with slightly sweaty fingers has had the copper oxidize to a dark green. It's not like I've been doing strenuous exercising while wearing, or walking around in the rain with them.

Is this normal? Doesn't the plastic coating offer any protection? Or do I have a defective item?

Every copper cable I own with clear plastic has turned green to some extent or other. Some to the point where they are the color of bread mold.

I'm going to use a tiny bit of super glue on either side when I get my replacement.
You'd better avoid using super glue (cyanoacrylate)! A drop of polyurethane (or similar, elastic) glue is enough. The grill shall be removable e.g. to replace filters.

Not sure if some of you guys recognised me as one of the early adopters of the IT03.

Situation has changed these days and of course, I've made changes to my setup.

1. Ibasso DX90 -> Aune M1S -> Onkyo DP-X1A(B)

Previously I did enjoy IT03 on an unbalanced setup with DX90. But the biggest problem lies when if you made your IT03 balanced, how would it fare?

That was when I realised IT03 has more to offer than what it was originally set up for.

My move from DX90 to Aune M1S was purely because I decide to embrace having a balanced setup. I loved Sabre signature a lot and moving to m1s was in a way an upgrade.
Primary differences were:
1. Highs were sparkly
2. Mids were wider but no reduction in details
3. Sub-bass improvement.

The M1S, despite being a basic balanced player with DSD support, it was a total run of my money.

However, recently I met XDP-300R. The bar was raised and brought musicality to the next height. Not only you get details, but you're music feels moe 3D and surreal. I start to wonder what form of surprises IT03 has to offer.

Presently I'm with Onkyo DP-X1A and the IT03 still continues to shine despite the lack of synergy. But this move was primarily because I factored Andromeda in my mind for my future setup.

For those who don't know what balanced cable I'm using, I'm actually on VE Espresso 2.5mm cable. Somehow it sounds really well with the IT03, but the construction feels a little off somehow. :)

Where is the cheapest place to buy this?

I've never seen a significant discount on these IEMs -- $259 seems to be the price.

I have both CB12 and CB13, and both are great! Well, both are more expensive than VE...

iBasso usually prices their products below what it should be. While others charge at least $300 for a quality 3way hybrid - theirs is $259. DX200 could have been easily priced over $1k, instead of $869, and their $89 CB12 cable is in $150-$200 price range of other quality cables.

I have also seen the CB12, much the same cable, go for 299.

What exactly are you Ref8ering to? :p
Exactly. The same wire and braid going for over 3X as much money as what iBasso charges. I am not going to get into naming companies but it does go to show that the CB12 is a very good buy.
