I have to come clean. I bought the Sennheiser HD800, AGAIN.

I sold my HD800 about a month after I got them.  Ever since I listened to them again at the local Head-Fi meet, I've been thinking about them.  My headphones guy had one last NEW pair at the old price (well under the used price) so I jumped on it along with a pair of Beyer T-1.  Both should arrive next week.  Stay tuned for the T-1 unboxing video and my impressions of the two.

Anyone else had the same experience?

...and once again, Head-Fi has proven that its wallet-destroying capabilities are just as strong as golf and computers.

Enjoy your new toys. I'm looking forward to your impressions.

I bought and sold headphones, but none other than the HD800 made me want it back. The fact that Sennheiser jacked up the price was another motivator for me to get another now ratter than later.

I plan to use my Lehmann Audio Black Cube Linear with the T1 as well as the HD800. Is that a good match for the T1? I liked how the HD800 sound with the Lehmann BCL.

Half the time I sell a headphone I like I'll inevitably want it back in like a month. A lot of it has to do with my monthly budget constraints... the AD2000 is such a headphone, in that I like it so much but I can't really afford to keep it. Once I'm able to sell it and I have the money in my account I just know I'm going to want to buy it back =_= stupid bank account impulses.

The Grado HF2 was another such headphone, and the HD650 was a third. I'm also reconsidering messing around with the MS1000 again... curse you head-fi!

Yeah it was a bit too big for my face. But I couldn't stop thinking about after hearing again at the meet so I had to have it back. Price was a huge factor since the new retail price is a couple hundred more now. Getting a new pair for less than what a used pair sells for here is a great deal that I couldn't pass on.

What were they paired with at the meet?  Was it the Woo?

Yes it was paired with Woo Audio. The sound was smooth, sweet and large.

Proving once again that for many Head-Fi'ers the joy is in the buying, not the owning.

STAGE 1: The Idea of an HD800
STAGE 2: The researching of the HD800 and alternatives
STAGE 3: The agonizing over whether to "pull the trigger"
STAGE 4: The buying of an HD800
STAGE 5: The honeymoon with the HD800
STAGE 6: The ineffable sense that the HD800 is not quite "All That" after all
STAGE 7: The selling off of the HD800

STAGE 8: Time passes, other headphones come and go...

STAGE 9: The Idea of an HD800
STAGE 10: The researching of the HD800 and alternatives
STAGE 11: The agonizing over whether to re-pull the triggerSTAGE 4: The buying of an HD800
STAGE 12: The honeymoon with the HD800
STAGE 13: The ineffable sense that the HD800 is not quite "All That" after all

Lather, rinse, repeat stages 1-7 until you run out of money or die of old age...
