Hey Guys :D

I purchased this Player a week ago from a pawnshop (sometimes they have good stuff) here in Mexico , for 1500 pesos (130 dollars) and i am absolutely blown away by the cristal clear sound this thing produces ....... I consider my Sansa Clip one of the best mp3 players i have heard but this Sony makes my Sansa Sound like an Archos 605 (video quality good , sound quality ......pathetic) , like others have stated already , this Players packs a lot of power , with The clip i had to listen to -20 in quiet enviroments and -10 in loud enviroments  (Rockboxed Sansa Clip and RE0 btw) , with this player i use it at 8 till 10 depending on the loudness of the recording in quiet enviroments and 13 till 15 in loud enviroments , it makes my RE0 sound like a completely different IEM , i dont even touch the EQ Settings or the clear stereo because i dont need it , i was just about to pull the trigger on a Fiio E11 but now that i have this Player i just dont think i can justify the cost if this combo X1051 and Re0 already sounds this good .......... all in alla the best 130 dollars i have spent in a long time

Welcome to the club x 2, nice to see this thread been revived by what is most probably one of the most underrated daps currently out there despite it been discontinued.
The digital amp in this is top class for a mass made dap and there has been various people who prefer this sound to the newer current model, the  A845.

I use a iBasso PB1 portable amp which does make it sound better for sure, but not a million miles away that when i use just the X when on the move I enjoy it still to the point I am not yearning for that extra my ibasso amp adds from a SQ perspective which is testimony to how the engineers at Sony developed what was a proper go at what they used to do so well with a flagship spec model.

Hope you enjoy it for a long time to come, my biggest fear now with the X been discontinued is my unit dying on me what with Sony not directly replacing this with a worthy X2 model by now or even more worrying - any time soon.... with them (Sony) to me seems like partly giving up & bowing down to Apple as competition and the financial climate making them prioritise other developments over the Walkman department we end up with Sony giving us the boring A845!

Long live the X.

As our precious sony X's are to us and getting increasingly difficult to obtain a replacement, make sure you buy a silicone cover for yours. Even if you think you don't need one it's just one slip of the hand and it could be gone forever. I know it's saved mine a couple of times. I'd be lost without it.

I bought a zagg invisible skin protector for the back and front and it is invisible and protects the player well. I think it is better than a silicone skin that will damage the player if grains of sand or dust get under it.

just bought my second X, $150 refurb from Sony outlet, it seriously is near brand new, battery life is good. and seriously, this is one of the best player i ever listened, i just love the pure sound, even compare to my imod, i still will take this little x over it for some of the sounds. and now i am using ck10 with the X, it is a good match, i like it over se530 and ie8, and now waiting for my ex1000.

Just got the X1061

Doesn't look like it's easy to take apart for the battery. 2 phillips head screws at the dock connector. The back seems like it might come off with some prying

Has anyone had one of these apart?

The A867 is now availlable at Amp3 for £300.  http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/MP3_Players.1/Sony.76/NWZA867B.CEW/Sony_NWZ-A867_64GB_Walkman__Video_MP3_player_Colour_BLACK.13114.html

To be honest, I can't see its advantage over the A847 or the X (except for capacity in the latter case)..OK it has bluetooth, but it has an LCD screen instead of OLED, is volume-capped and the battery life is a mere 23 hours.

I had a Cowon J3 that was only getting around 20 hours no matter what I did... it annoyed me so much I got rid of it. The new A would just be a pain if I had to charge it often...I'm spoiled by the battery life of my S which is the 50 hours it claims.

So, it's no new Sony for me.. I'll wait and see what the Android one is like.

I will be scratching my head for the next few days trying to decide if I want to buy it or not, the additional space would definitely be appreciated.

I know that this isn't the thread - and you probably don't want a Sansa - but for capacity I'd suggest to anyone to get a Clip+ or Zip and add microSD cards to it....£300 seems a hell of a lot of money for a player, even a Sony at 64Gb.
