BTW don't get the RX900. I hear they are much worse then the RX700. I really hate the RX900, although at first they sound just OK.

What you could do is buy both the RX700 and DHP-II and send back the loser

Just as a warning...the RX700 and 900 are HUGE. Way bigger then the pictures make them look.

Yeah I have heard the RX900 had a bloated low end compared to the 700. I don't mind the size if the headband is as comfortable as it looks. I mean I was also considering the XB700 here ;p

If it were up to me I would have never bought the RX700's, I got a good deal on them and would like to sell them for the same price I bought them. They have one visable scratch on the cup it'self and these have been modded. They sound great, and they are the sturdiest headphones I've ever felt. The problem comes with their wieght, mine being modded means the wiegh even more.

If I had to pick my XB500's would be y first choice, they are much more fun with better mid bass impact which for me and full sized cans is nice and not something I thought I was going to like. I was told they were boomy but I find it's not to bad and it never distorts which "Boomy" semi-implies. The full dynamic range is in these an don't fool yourself or let haters tell you otherwise these are as good for me as my RX700's were, with a price of $48 after shipping I think I did pretty well and was prepared to spend double that. For me these were the full package.

The only other headphones I'd suggest would be Creative Aurvana Live's, and I believe tDock has more experience with them then I do so if you want to know about some of the best bang for your buck headphones on the market then ask him about those.

Alright, bought the RX700's off of amazon.

Having demo'd the XB500's frequently at Best Buy, I AM in love with their comfort, plan to buy a pair of those for my girlfriend, and we can switch them around as we see fit ;p

Ok I'm looking at the HD555's most intently now as an all-arounder. Intend to perform the 595 mod, and soundstage mod at a later time if I feel like it needs it.

How about the topic of amplifying/computer-output SQ? How does plugging the headphones into the soundcard compare to plugging them into a speaker?

The HD555's are no good for gaming. I don't really know about the other one's but my friend has a pair the the 555's and I've used them for hours of gaming. They're just more suited for music.

I've heard both ways. That the soundstage is good for gaming with more bass impact than the AD700, but that it doesn't do either of them well enough.

The soundstage on them is decent, it's pretty small in comparison to other open headphones though. I'd say they are more movie music headphones then anything else.

Oh and wiat till you get your RX700, it is HUGE. By far the biggest headphones I've every seen.

Arrived earlier tonight, and yes, they are rather large

When you can see the earcups in the periphery of your vision while wearing them. I do very much like them though, very light for their size.

The banana holder I purchased to store them on isn't up to size, though.

So how do you think they sound?

Great :]

Though I don't have a high quality source available yet, or any other high quality phones to compare them to.

I just recently got a pair of Panasonic HTX7's, they're almost the exact same price. It would be interesting to compare them side by side, I think I'll be buying a pair.
