As an engineer, when I look at audiophile LPS designs I recoil in horror
Not all of them are bad. For example Cyrus new PSU-XR
https://www.cyrusaudio.com/products/psu-xr/

Classical toroid and very scientific approach for the rest of the PSU: no unnecessary current flow between components, digital feedback, custom voltage regulators, separate lines powering different circuits of CDplayer and (!) no connection to mains ground.

I’ve had very interesting conversation with Cyrus support. They really know what they are doing and their approach fits perfectly with everything we've heard from you about power supplies.

Moreover, I would say that Cyrus's approach with optional PSUs is good for both sides. The buyer can stretch spending by buying the devices one at a time, and the manufacturer closes the broader price bracket and earns more.

Hi,

I need your help a little. Becouse i soon will get my second vaccine (finally) and will start going to office, i plan to bring often TT2/HMS. Could you recommend a good case to carry around? Maybe you already went through that and tried to fit some?

Thank you.

I’d recommend you don’t do it, just have a mobile dac or a second system. It feels like madness to transport 10k of hifi equipment to work and back.
Accidents happen!
Buy a mojo and don’t worry about losing sq.

I have ambivalent feelings about this. Money and inconvenience aside I assume the TT2/M-Scaler are durable enough to move around occasionally but I think a separate nice system is a better alternative.

I'd say get a Pelican 1440, a good insurance policy, and have a blast. Life is short, use your toys. The 1440 may have enough room for a set of headphones as well (depending on size) once you slide in the TT2/HMS combo.

I agree wholeheartedly but I think the inconvenience of schlepping it back and forth and reconnecting everything will wear thin very quickly. Life IS short; buy a second office unit and eliminate the time and angst IMHO! The pelican case is an excellent choice though

Hi there. Quick question regarding the optimization of the input signal. Is there any consensus on using a USB "decrapifier" such as iPurifier 3, ISO Regen etc... with an HMS/TT2 stack? Does it even need it? FYI I'm using a Roon R.O.C.K, so basically a NUC with passive cooling, and everything is plugged on a Furman AC-210. Similar questions have been asked in this thread but seem to have been left unanswered...

Or just leave it at the office and get a DAVE for home. :beerchug:

No the USB is galvanically isolated so the 5v does not interfere. The USB out of my MacBook and Raspberry Pi (streamer) sounded the same with the same software (Audirvana) whether directly connected or streamed.

The other thing I will add, the BNC output to me sounded a bit better then USB but it was hard to tell for sure - not enough of a difference to me to throw a lot of money at but if you have bnc that’s the preferred connection IMO.

Unfortunately the NUC doesn't have a BNC output. It's actually an old NUC (4th Gen) but does perfectly the job running Roon. Newer generations do have an optical output which would enable me to completely bypass potential issues related to USB. From what I'm reading, I'd be better off with a nicer USB cable (using an Oyaide neo now) rather than getting an iPurifier or other USB reclocker, cleaner, regenerator, etc...

You may also want to consider a network bridge/ streamer/ roon endpoint, instead of streaming direct from the Nuc which is better used as a dedicated server. Even running fanless is a “noisy” source. You don’t need to the break the bank, something like an allo usb bridge signature with a quiet psu would do the job. Then a good USB cable should do the job. Do you have dedicated switch for the Nuc, as you might want to look at that, because you want ideally to separate your end point from router and a switch will act as a buffer eliminating quite a bit of the noise coming from the router and you should hear improvements. Get as clean a signal as possible going into the steamer and you’ll be left with less work to do when it comes to the da conversion.

A nicer USB cable will not make an audible change unless your current cable is defective but it could look better and the Oyaide is nicely built.

Some might object to this but I have researched Belden cabling and double shielded cables - wire + foil reject 100% of RF/EMI. Actual the foil rejects 100% but the braid adds strength while remaining flexible, depending on the openness of the braid it’s usually good for 95% shielding against RF/EMI. Read the white papers and you will see the test results, so it’s just a matter of knowing your cable construction.

You could try the SRC-DX. It takes usb and converts to dual bnc. It’s chipset is an upgrade on that used in the usb input of the tt2 and dave. It also opens up the use of upsampled files. i.e. hqplayer, remastero (pggb). Once you try pggb there is no going back. Not for streaming though.
