Wow, lucky us, another box to sink money into and buy appropriate cables for... No thanks. I stream audio out of the PC I am writing this message on and it works great for me.

But aren’t you tempted hear what your tt2 can really do? These extra boxes and wires are guaranteed to bring within touching distance of the audio rainbow’s end

Same. Less is more. Can’t understand how adding more devices and cables is somehow going to make my sound better - if there’s any detectable difference at all. I think we are chasing these things ultimately because we like to tinker and that’s part of the hobby and it must be better. Personally buy solutions you need and save your cash for things that actually make a difference to the sound - quality source (music recordings), dac, amp and headphones.

Isn’t this all we’re taking about, ie the sonic benefits of swapping a multi-purpose computer for source device that’s designed exclusively for. I enjoying hearing as much of what my gear in this case the Tt2/mscaler has to offer and using a source at similar level is the best way I’ve found to do this.

When I was 17 an alpine cassette deck in my vw golf was all i needed to get the hairs on my neck standing up, but now I’m 48, with all the noise, stress and distractions of life i need a bit more help, musical viagra if you like, in order to get close to those teenage music listening sensations… a convoluted way of saying that with a better streamer that’s match for my dac and headphones, yes I enjoy the music more…. But it’s great if you’re happy with what you have too  :)

Most of the people that say a Laptop is all you need as a source have probably never done a head to head with a dedicated high end music server/streamer.

True, although add in the M Scaler fixes that completely. I could tell no difference playing/streaming directly from a Mac versus the Roon Nucleus after I got the M Scaler.:)

I have an Mscaler with Wave Storm BNC cables, and like I said, my Naim streamer is a big upgrade over my Laptop USB. The ND5XS2 uses BNC digital out, no optical or USB...which Naim say works best.
Ethernet in BNC out.

IF there's a difference, it has less to do with the reasons most often stated - electrical/RF noise and likely because of the audio renderer. There's a clear difference between Roon, Audirvana and HQPlayer. Audirvana and HQPlayer to me both sound exactly the same and Roon loses some detail - just recently tested this over the weekend blind with my wife switching players. BTW, I don't believe cables make a difference and never heard a change myself. All that to say, if your streamer is better than your PC try changing the software player or driver (windows).

N Quarter, I started out by using my MacBook Pro 💻 as my ROON CORE to stream Qobuz and TIDAL, and I thought my system sounded pretty good. But when I asked my audio guy if I needed to get my laptop out of my listening chain, he looked at me like I was insane for not having done so already. Before I left his store I ordered a ROON Nucleus.

Mediahound, when I switched from using a laptop as my music streamer to a ROON Nucleus the difference in sound quality was like night and day.

Notice he said from his Mac. From my experience Macs sound better for music than a PC. Not starting an argument. I said from my experience.

I really don’t care what anyone else uses as their source, but for me, I prefer the sound with a dedicated streamer. I have owned a Naim Unitiqute 2,272, NDS, and now an ND5XS2. I traded in the NDS because it was the old streaming platform from Naim, the ND5XS2 was a complete overhaul of their streamers, which was three years in the making. I do not want a Laptop sitting on or near my audio rack/components. Can you tell I like Naim products? I challenge any of you Laptop lovers to bring it down to a Naim dealer, and substitute your Laptop in place of an ND555 streamer, see which sounds better. Use your Chord Mscaler and DAC of choice if you want.

This is certainly true.

That is very useful information. I would much prefer sticking to streaming from my PC and using an M Scaler. Thanks. Also, great news to those who have already invested in fancy streamers. They can now sell them and use the proceeds to buy an M Scaler, big win all around! :beerchug:
