Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

It depends how the XLR to RCA adapters is wired. If it’s wired pin2 and pin3, it should work. If it’s pin 1 and 2, you will only get SE output. Take care that only 2 pins (2 and 3 OR 1 and 3) are wired, or you will fry your TT2.
Is is true for XLR to XLR connection between tt2 and power amp also ? I am asking because in XLR to XLR interconnect all three pins are wired. Does that mean for tt2 to power amp while using XLR connection shield pin need not to be connected ?

So, please consult a knowledgeable party, because I’m not an electrical engineer nor an expert on wiring and don’t want to see you damage your TT2. But if you are wiring from XLR to XLR, you can be we hot, cold and shield. But if you are going to RCA or speakers, you are forced to choose only 2 of the 3 available pins. That’s when you have to decide between SE or balanced output.

Guys. What’s going on with chord? I am waiting for 5 weeks now for my TT2 here in Germany. There are no units available for the market here. I am really upset. Is this already a consequence of the upcoming brexit? Unbelievable. I wonder how long one has to wait in case of a repair???

I waited nearly 5 months to get mine in the US. Demand has been very high and supply had not been keeping up. My understanding though is that supply has been improving.

I doubt that this will have any impact on repair.

Unbelievable. I wouldn’t have ordered one if I’d knew it in advance. One is paying all the funds in advance and you have to wait 5 weeks? My car has been delivered faster than my tt2...

My dealer in the US did not charge me until it shipped, but I preordered and waited months. On the repair side, I did need a repair and Chord pretty quickly was able to send a new board out, so that side seems fine. Maybe the cases are what take a while?

Could be the cases. But to be brutally honest: other highend companies are able to deliver their units within 4 days. Sorry. I am still really really p... off.

I waited three months, but it was OK. I knew some folk ordered there TT2s when it was announced, and waited six months or more.

It's worth the wait though. If you find one is stock somewhere, maybe withdraw your funds deposited, and buy the one in stock. Or just wait, but it is worth it.

Chord are struggling to match demand - demand is so high, because the product is so good.
Your call!

Had you selected a Mojo or Qutest, you'd have one much quicker. But you selected a brand new product that's in very high demand. This is not uncommon. Pretty sure that being p... off isn't going to benefit you.

Maybe take it out on your dealer who should have set appropriate expectations.

I agree with the post above: 5 weeks is nothing.

Not a complex assembly. Assuming contract firms are doing the PCB and case work, final assembly should be pretty quick. I suspect the more impactful thing is that Chord probably has (roughly) as many products as it does employees (potentially more). They're not going to have 15-20 manufacturing lines going, so that means making things in batches, with dry spells in between.

That being said, you should be able to find a dealer that is willing to order one for you without payment (perhaps a deposit). Still a patience game, but not an economic one.

I’ve just informed my dealer that I will immediately cancel my order if Chord is not able to deliver in the next 2 weeks. He is totally on my side and I am not the only one who will cancel. Everything is about promise and deliver. It might sound brilliant, but I will not wait 5 months for a headphone amplifier.

There are many current owners who put up with a long wait and have no regrets. That should tell you how good it is. But if you don’t see the value in waiting for a TT2, you should cancel your order. It’s great that your dealer will support you in that. He’ll be able to find another buyer very quickly.
