Does this mean cables from hms to Dave do not really matter if you have the audio wise opto device?
The opto is certainly an rfi cure and mitigate ferrited cables.

that technically is the reason for the opto device, it also allows you to physically separate the devices by up to 5 metres, and Dan from opto says, if you double the distance it quarters the ambient rf (or so).

I have found there is still a relationship between the BNC cables used and the sound quality, especially the final ones.

Although there are plenty of converters out there, It seems like the OPTO-DX is the only product of its kind in the market today. The OPTO-DX draws only 80 mA and is an all-analog device. There’s no clocking or FPGA in its design. It does not use TOSLINK but a direct optical modulation of (in my case) the Chord Electronic’s DX signal to support Hugo M Scaler’s full 768kHz sampling rate.

This quote is from the Audio bacon review of the Opto-DX, and it has me a little confused. Maybe Dan can answer this, but he states it is an all-analog device. I thought the signal was still digital coming out of the Mscaler, until it goes into the TT2, which converts it to analog? Maybe the point he makes that it is not TOSLINK, but direct optical modulation answers it, but has me confused, what exactly is this, are they some special cables between the transmitter and receiver? Does this mean you have to use the supplied cables between the two, no chance of upgrading those?

I have the OPTO.DX, and the cables still matter.

I agree, I also have an Opto-DX, connecting my Dave and my Blu 2. The 4 BNC cables matter, even the 2 on the Opto-DX transmitter. I use 4 x 1.2 metre Oyaide DB-510 BNC digital cables. The 1.2 metre digital cables allow more physical separation of the Dave and Blu 2. There is no need for batteries either. I use a Farad Super 3 power supply on the Opto-DX receiver and at the moment an ifi iPower on the Opto-DX transmitter, These are powered from separate circuits.

whether residual RF gets through or not it is a fact that the dual bnc outputs of the mscaler are galvanically isolated. it is a design feature.

What is the definition of galvanic isolation?

I'm so glad I'm off this rfi merry-go-round.

Anyone in here use aftermarket power cords or external power supplies for their Hugo M Scaler? Do you find either helpful or is the stock power cord good enough? I have aftermarket power cords for everything I plug in except the HMS as it uses a different plug.

Digital AC - X on DAC and Streamer
Kaptivator Lite on AMP
Hugo M Scaler (???)

After reading John Atkinson's Stereophile review, I think one is needed for my DAVE.
Can one of you please recommend the proper BNC cabling for connecting the two?
Thanks!
You might want to check out audiowise' opto dx.

I have a power chord the size of inflated fire hose going into my antipodes. Feels like it could power an aircraft carrier or be one of those power snakes on a star wars flight deck. ac 12 is it from PS audio

I hope you replaced the wiring in your wall as well. It does look nice for sure. #8awg equivalent - 55 amps. That's one helluv a server. LOL
