So you moved from 4090 to 3090. What were the drivers that influenced your decision?I do.
Also, today I report 3090 install success.
This was delayed from being complete last weekend, I assume due to limited power of V850 PSU which I thought was odd since the 4090 had no issue.
Ordered and installed V1100 now and 14900K OC'd along with 3090 has achieved ASDM7ECV2 hires lp 1024 x 44.1 rates which was previously not possible with 13900K and 4090.

HQPlayer Impressions and Settings Rolling Thread
So you moved from 4090 to 3090. What were the drivers that influenced your decision?
Since pre 5.0 HQP and 4090 didn't help heavier filters and the combo I preferred was possible on 13900k alone, I returned it.
With 5.2.0 filters and optimizations, I was curious to see if others were possible and decided to just try a cheaper used 3090 since it still had higher 24gb ram as Jussi stated is somewhat important for heavier filters.
I have testing to do this weekend to see if I find anything that betters the current but I am doubtful.
thanks.I have no information if Spring KTE is capable of 48k based DSD rates. It is easy to test it - set [x] 48k DSD, set [x] Adaptive rate as fully ticked and set SDM as default mode in Output tab. Then try to play 48k based PCM content. If that is working, leave [x] 48k DSD as is, otherwise uncheck it.
Since you almost never play DSD, I recommend you to have [x] Adaptive rate as fully ticked. That will lower computer resources when you are playing 44.1k based source content (44.1, 88.2, 176.4, 352.8, 705.6, 1411.2). With your current setting these are always upsampled to 1536, which is multiple of 48. With [x] Adaptive rate fully ticked they will be upsampled to 1411.2 with less demand on computer resources.
Just checked with the dealer the spring supports DSD 64x, 128x, 256x, 512x and even 1024x
my computer is a macbook pro with a M1 Max // 64GB Ram and giving an output of 1.4112M on my DAC it is using between 25 - 30% of CPU usage. its not having any impact on how I'm using my computer.
Going back to the slight popping noise, Is there any harm in leaving it as I have it? or would any changes help resolve it?
It's seems to have diminshed perhaps from a reboot?
is there any harm in upsampling to 1536?
would love a comment on what do to with MQA settings in Roon for HQPlayer? does HQPlayer upsample MQA?

in the manual I found a table that suggests what to set the compensation to:
I'm still getting faint pop noises.
otherwise just wanted to ask if I have entered this setting properly.

We both suggested you to fully check [x] Adaptive rate in Outputs tab. It is tristate checkbox, you have it greyed in the middle state. Set the fully checked state.

That's useful only if you are switching PCM and DSD output modes to match output level between the two. If you are using only PCM output, you don't need to care about it.

What does it mean better? If you want to store DSD conversion result, PGGB is not able of that. These products are not doing the same thing. HQPlayer Pro contains the whole HQPlayer Desktop functionality. It adds recording feature to it. PGGB is rather something like automated PCM re-mastering tool. HQPlayer Pro can be used that way, but it can do more. DSD support, convolution, PEQ, channel mixing, real time recording/processing of content coming from ADC or digital audio inputs etc.Is it better than pggb?

It's about quality of downsampling for distribution including dither quality for bit depth reduction and also upsampling quality. I tried pggb with highest setting for upsampling and it took ages to upsample but the results were unbelievably good. What does it mean better? I am using my MacBookPro (M1 Max / 64gb) to connect to the holo audio spring kte.Halo.
Have you enabled MQA Core Decoder?
I know the DMPA6 I have supports full MQA.
I don’t know what to do without the DMPA6 - will my sound chain (below) support having MQA decoder/renderer/both
Chain:
Roon Tidal -> HQ Player on MacBookPro -> Holo Audio Spring3 KTE
I have attached a picture.

Hillo.
In Roon, you shall see the listing of authentication like this old image below if Core Decoder is enabled. From there HQP is doing the filtering based on your selection.

Also, your A6 decodes on it's own. Even though Spring does not, Roon still does the first unfold to 88.1 as you see. The rest would be done in your A6 if you were using it's filter, but you are bypassing that by utilizing HQP in place of the hardware decode.
Maybe someone can explain better than me.

Thanks.
Would I be better off using Qobuz instead with HQ player if it only does the first MQA unfold?
if yes would love to know what the difference would be?
When using tidal in HQ Player of the drop down menu for MQA what option should I select ? (Pic attached)
Thanks!
