Finally, I have reinstalled the original firmware. It was a big headache for me. puffffffff!  I have mac, and i have tried on two windows to uninstall the rockbox, but after all installed windows on my mac, and then removed the thing ( ca not call it as the current rockbox as software, it was totally unusable on my hifiman) So, never coming back.

How'd you un-install Rockbox?

the problem was that i could not to install rockchip software  on on two windows computers. Then i have installed windows on my macbook pro, after that tricks windows accepted rockchip software ( i mean the drivers in tools folder, as explained above) I have followed all instructions, and could downgrade back to original software. For newbies i would recommend to wait until really stable rockbox update

I followed the directions posted earlier and bridged the 5 and 6 pin inside of the 601. Then connected the device which was then detected. If not done right you'll get an error detection. Once done right I was able to install Hifiman driver. Then you open the image loader and input the image and run it.

Would this work with the HM-801?

I'm not 100% sure but I would think the steps are similar if not exactly the same for the 801. The only problem still though is that now since updating to hifimans latest firmware the 601's EQ doesn't work. But I notice the sound signature is more balanced now and I don't even feel inclined to use the EQ. Regardless this is something hifiman should fix. I'll probably have to revert to the older firmware to get my EQ working right again.

NIce. So I am assuming you are gonna stick to stock firmware. I'm afraid they will not fix the beta version. Anyways I've found a superior choice in the Studio V and will most likely be putting my 601 up for sale shortly.

Yes, I will be sticking to the stock firmware until they work out some more of bugs in the Rockbox firmware.

Don't raise your hopes, as I am sure the development has almost/completely stopped! unless someone can prove me wrong.

Hey guys,

I got an error message alerting about boot file on the final step, click "?? (U)", and nothing happened to my HM602, mul-function already :frowning2:

What would be the potential root causes & how can I fix this then? Thanks in advance :)

? Do you have the SD card inserted. You can only get Rockbox to work if you have the appropriate file loaded onto your SD card with it inserted into your Hifiman. Otherwise it won't work and you'll get an error.

Uninstalling Rockbox

Tools needed to do this:
  1. A working computer ( Windows ONLY! )
  2. A USB 2.0 cable
  3. An HM-801, 603, 602 or 601 player
  4. An SD Card

Download the image flashing software HERE. Download the latest HM-801 firmware HERE. Download the latest HM-601 firmware HERE. Download the latest HM-602 firmware HERE.

Step 1: After downloading the "image flashing software", unzip all of the contents into a folder you can easily access.
Step 2: Turn on your Hifiman device and connect it your computer via USB.
Step 3: On your Hifiman device's Rockbox menu, navigate to System - Debug(don't touch!) - View HW info.
Step 4: This is the most important step, installing the drivers. On your Windows based PC or emulated via MAC, click the START button. Where it says "search programs and files" at the bottom left, type in "devmgmt.msc". The device manager window should pop up. Make sure no other devices are connected to your computer via USB to avoid mix ups and complications. Locate "Other Devices - Unknown Device". Here's an example, but in this picture they're installing the driver for a "Base System Device". Right click "Unknown Device" and click "Update Driver Software". Then click "Browse my computer for driver software". When you downloaded the "image flashing software" it should have unzipped into these following folders and files ( Click here for a picture of what the files and folders should look like ). When the Driver installing wizard prompts you to locate the drivers, go to the folder where you've unzipped all of the contents from the "image flashing software". Within that folder, click "drivers". Now depending on the type of machine and Windows you're using, this procedure will be different for some people. Within the "drivers" folder, the "amd64" folder contains drivers for 64bit machines and the "x86" folder contains drivers for a 32 bit machine. Once you've found out what machine and Windows you're using, navigate to the appropriate folder and click "ok". Now click "next" and the wizard will begin installing the drivers. Once you've gotten a successfully completed message it's time to move on to the next step!
Step 5: Go back to the folder where you've extracted the "image flashing software's contents" to ( Click here for a picture of what the files and folders should look like ). Click "RK27Upgrade_Image.exe". In the program that you've just launched, click the "...." button alongside "Image??:" ( Click here for a picture of how it looks ). Now locate the firmware file for what Hifiman device you're trying to uninstall Rockbox from and click "open". Now click the "??(U)" button right above "Image??:" ( Click here for a picture of how it looks ). Please be patient as the software reverts your Hifiman device back to it's original firmware. When you see the "Data Exchange" screen on your Hifiman device, it's safe to unplug the USB cable and reboot your Hifiman device.
Step 6: If all went well, your Hifiman device should now boot the original firmware!

Any questions? Feel free to ask!

Hello
i have follow this instruction for uninstalling rockbox on my HM601 but the step 4 is impossible for me : it is impossible to install the driver on "unknown device " like it is explain on that post.
When i do that the result is that windows cannot install the driver
one detail : if i turn on the HM601 like it is explain before connecting it to the computer i cannot see it like "unknown device" if i do not turn on before i can the "unknown device " but i can t install the driver on it

Is there anybody who can help to do that or is there another solution ?

Thancks by advance and sorry for my english because it is not my usual language
