As I love movies and watch them often, I started collecting movie & television soundtracks last year. Therefore, I have around 1,200 instrumental tracks and 500 songs. I don't usually buy albums - just one or two songs that I like.

IPod 160G has 5500 songs
300 CDs
200 Vinyl
5 DVD-A
20 SACD
10 24/96 downloads and many more to follow.  I agree with Machoboy I'm over CD's and Vinyl and FLAC is where I'm going.

I'm not over Vinyl lol. Just getting started. There is so much potential for music that is well recorded on vinyl. It craps all over CD. 24/192 and 24/96 is where it is at. But considering space restrains FLAC is also a must. Right now I've got about 250 GBs of 24/192, 24/96, 700 GBs of FLAC, and 160 GBs of MP3s. I've since abandoned MP3s though and no longer add to that collection.... With vinyl it's like being there with the actual singer while FLAC you are just listening to the music. For me the detail and emotional benefits far out-weight the space requirements.

6305 songs on my laptop right now. 3 more spare HDDs filled with music, so in total 25491 songs. Gotta love gmusicbrowser for sorting!

Honestly I don't even bother going out to buy songs anymore. My neighbour has a family collection of around 300k albums, translates into a library count somewhere in the millions. I just borrow CDs from him when I get the chance.

Cool. I tend to borrow from friends as well. Nice to swap hard drives filled with music :). Funny thing is it's technically not legal to even share music between friends or relatives, but I could give a rats behind.

I don't burn the CDs I borrow, that'd take too much effort.

I'm trying not to expand my personal library, too many songs to choose from can be such a bother. His audio rig is way better than mine anyways, so I don't even need to take them home.

...Wait, just read the last part... it's illegal to share CDs?

Edit: Oh, I see, it's illegal to share a CD and save a copy for yourself.

536 songs, lossless. I don't even listen to half of them. But then again I don't get bored of things fast so I don't really have any desire to expand. I can listen to a song on repeat all day without getting bored of it.
