I do not hear any noise from my source. Heck the fan I have in the room about 5 feet away does make noise when in high, so it is on low setting.

My source is actually split into to different locations, one at about 14'-15' away, the other at about 1' away.

My uncompressed files are kept on an internal HDD in a headless PC (no mouse, no keyboard, no monitor). The case has been modified to reduce noise, and there are minimal fans (power supply & 1 case... no CPU fan). A 16' USB cable runs underneath the carpet to my DAC/amp combo, sitting on a desk next to my listening chair. I control Winamp from the chair using Bluetooth and a cellphone.

Can't hear a friggin' thing but me music.

1-3 feet away and my computer's fans are not what anyone would call quiet

when listening i can't hear the fan noise at all except during silence or if i'm listening for the noise during a quiet part in a song, movie, game, etc

My laptop is silent unless I'm doing something intensive, in which case I'm likely working on stuff rather than critically listening so it doesn't really bother me. My laptop sits on my desk, <3 feet away.

A little over 12 feet away, I definitely need a remote controll for volume on the B22. Source is HTPC w/specs in my sig. No noise at all that I can tell. Well, if I'm playing a DVD I can hear it spin up on rare occasion.

Those are quiet. So's my 24" iMac. I love how quiet Apple likes to make the consumer lineup.
