Home-Made IEMs

What printer specifically? Assuming that it prints well, that resolution should be enough for most things. You will need to sand the outside of the shell more to get a good finish and you might not be able to do very fine structures like 3d printed tubing.
Sanding by hand or power tools?

or maybe I should wait for the Anycubic MicroLED. I think in theory it will have 4 times the resolution. Problem is I don't have the table space for a large machine and the resin curing and washing mahcine and I only want to print small parts like an IEM shell.
If I had it to do over again…
Help me decide on this product: Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K LCD Resin 3D Printer, Highest Resolution of 22 µm and 1152 ppi, 7.1” Mono LCD Screen, Prints Beyond Handcrafted Models, L16.5 x W7.2 x H18 cm Printing Volume https://a.co/d/gRmFIlw

That tiny printer looks awesome, but I'd probably wait for the Anycubic for mainstream support. The concept is extremely simple so it should be fine though. Changing feps and whatnot may prove a bit fiddly though.

Reminds me of this one: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/worlds-smallest-3d-printer

If you get addicted to this stuff then at some point you'll be wanting to print shells with sub-mm tubes and will probably appreciate as much resolution as possible. You may also want to engrave patterns/writing on your prints

Hi you all !
I have a question. Does the thickness of the shell affects on the sound of iems?
I'd say no. Even isolation is unlikely to be much difference. It will affect strength and internal space. If you've got a simple driver module like a GV then I'd make it thicker. If something complicated with lots of tubes and crossovers, then make it thinner. My default is about 1.2mm.

I'd say don't go below 1mm or you might crack it when sanding or reworking it

Wow, that's expensive! That's more than the 8k Saturn!

the sound sounds like something from a pipe or tube ( well , we use tubes i guess :). Also the vocals the same story .
May be dampers may be tubes I don’t know
Ill try to find out :frowning2:

Hi guys, can i ask for suggestions for a 8mm or 10mm dynamic driver to go in some off the shelf bullet shells? Whats the best bang for $$ or top of the line that's accessible to your average diyer at the moment?
Huayunxin store on aliexpress. They make very good quality drivers, I'm currently working on a 2dd with their red 6mm driver.
