After about a month of wait, my Holo May KTE arrived! I previously came from an Audiogd R8 (1st gen) and also a Rockna Wavelight.
I'm letting the May burn in a bit before I do any serious listening, but casual listening is really impressive with 48 hrs of burn in so far!

I was contemplating which one to take between those two until I received an excellent offer for the Wavelight and decided on that one.
Couldn't be more interested in your impressions
You also use the Empyrean, which amp are you using?

Yeah, I was deciding between the Wavelight and the Holo May before getting the Wavelight. However, the Wavelight was just a touch fatiguing for me in longer listening sessions with my setup. It did however sound simply exceptional and quiet, which is befitting its price tag and pedigree.
As mickey mentioned, i'm using a Linear Tube Audio ZOTL amp. It's with Ken Rad 6SN7GT's and Mullard 12au7's (both NOS)

@Baten Thanks! ZMF 2k Copper

I received my May KTE DAC for 2 days ago and purchased purely on reviews, reputation, and my positive experience with the Spring DAC. I've been doing some comparison with my SU-1 KTE/Spring KTE setup (rest of the system is Pass XP-12, Pass XA25, Susvara and LCD-4). It's clear the May has much better detail/resolving ability. The Spring has a bit more grain and the May sounds more organic. The May fleshes out instruments, vocals, etc. better giving them more body than the Spring. All of seems to contribute to improvements in soundstaging as well. The May does seem a bit more neutral to the Spring's slight warmth, but it's definitely not in any way analytical or cold, or at least not in my system.
@donato, cool avatar...
Sold my R8 and now i am waiting for the may L1...estimated End of Jan

hehe, thanks. RIght back at ya . Our you using your XA to drive any of your HPs? I've switched from that X150.5 to an XA25 so I guess I should change my avatar, but yeah, the faceplate and meters are just too cool looking (XA25 looks boring in that regard). Maybe I should change it to a Holo May avatar.
It'd be great to get your impressions of it once you receive it.
This May KTE arrived Christmas evening, and now has been burning-in round the clock for 11 days on my desk. What a trip...
What an incredible dopamine monster this is. Absolutely perfect in every single aspect of SQ, truly beautiful and almost magically good in conveying the emotion of music.
The one thing I did not appreciate (don't worry, this story has an happy ending) was the burn-in process: First 4 days were bliss and pure excitement for what is to come, then 5 days of hell. Thing is, after day 4 I wished for more energy in the treble. I got what I wished for .
That day, within hours this KTE became physically extremely hot, and so became its sound, mostly harsh, 2d, flat and boring, and seriously tiring. What the screw. Ok, this is the burn-in process... But after 5 days it still was cold, harsh and tiring. I was genuinely afraid I had blown a Cap . Even went back to the dealer (so lucky to have Magna only 45 min drive away) and compared my KTE to their Demo May Level II. The 'out-of-control' sound had already diminished a bit, unplugging the May for a couple of hours seemingly made a difference already. Even though my KTE was still sounding little hot and unbalanced, I clearly prefered my KTE to the demo May L2.
Conclusion, I needed to be patient. Back home, within 24 hours my KTE found its balance and magic again. I'm so happy and grateful to experience IMHO this work of Art that the Holo Audio May KTE is. I look forward to the remaining 200 hours of burn in (500 is recommended?!).
The May 'burn in' process is a different beast, never experienced such extreme changes in sound signature.
Is my experience with the May KTE burn in process common or was it an exception?
