Hisoundaudio Studio V 3rd Anniversary Edition Review

I agree, but has anyone actually tried the new P1's UI yet? I do agree that the previous models had a much less than perfect UI experience
as well as too much hiss.

Also, they are coming out with more than just the P1. Add P2, P3.

Love their names LOL so simple. They are coming with a new balanced armature earphone line. Guess what? BA-1, BA-2, BA-3.

Haven't actually, they have not completed even their prototypes.
oh really ? Perhaps they come in different price points ?
well, they have done well with the BA100, it's interesting to see what they can produce with their design.

But honestly speaking,
3rd Anv is one that still stands tall after even X5 or DX90 are released.

Do you know where we can get a Cube C30 these days? I remember being told about it once.

You can get it on aliexpress from China (around $30), also It pops up from time to time much cheaper on amazon and ebay and in online stores.
Good as a backup player. Flac's quality is truly amazing - very, very close to Studio, as they share same chip, menu and most of electronics, although with weaker battery (17 instead of 60 hours playback) and no inline input to use as a external amp.
Hiss level is about the same, and you also get radio, txt reader, BBE profiles and user EQ settings.
However build quality is not so good, I had 2 faulty players before getting working one. They can die without apparent reason and develop all sort of faults. But for 20-30 usd thats a one hell of a player, especially when used as a backup one.

There is so much resemblance between studio and cube that in fact Im pretty much sure that Hisoundaudio took C30 as a starting point in their drawing boards, changed opamps, added bigger battery, fine-tuned EQ, optimized it, improved quality and packed it into a nicer body.  I would say that cube c30 could be sold as Studio V "light".

Studios were around before Cube so if one is derivative.... Regardless, they won't sound the same as not even all the HiSounds sound the same. Studio V, A3, Rocoo-p and Rocoo-ba all have noticeable differences with the same SOC. They also measure flat so the differences aren't EQ. Doesn't mean the c30 may not be a great deal at it's price but it will be different. Using EQ would not be my way of equalizing

the differences.

So I got Worm's RoCoo-ba and went through all the FW configs last night and interestingly enough, kinda liked them all which is unusual for me. I generally feel one is significantly better voiced. There are definitely preferences here but it's a friendly player.

For those that are comfy swapping around FWs, try the RoCoo-power FW with the player formatted to 8192 during the install. It's the same I used with my P when I had it and it's my favorite here as well.

I bought mine (well, two of mines) on ebay.co.uk. They cost me £16 plus p&p.

I can see it also online in some shops, if you google "cube c30 player" you should see it on a first page in top 10 results, but I dont know the shop so it would be wise of you to check it first.

And, goodvibes, I didnt say that c30 and studio are identical - c30 and studio are very similar - but obviously have some differences between them - it sounds to my ears like different opamp being used, but Im not a microchip specialist. What matters to me is the sound signature, and it is in both cases very, very similar.
H20Fidelity asked for any DAP similar to studio, hence my answer. It is VERY similar. slightly more bassy, slightly maybe less airy, with worse battery life and built quality, and also more temperamental, but with some added extras, like BBE and the user EQ. As for my ears, they sound like siblings, cousins maybe - close enough to call them a family, even if they come from different mother

Do you guys use the studio3 with button sound on or off? Iem I am using which is audiotechnica im04 seem to suit both fine but they seem to result in totally different sound output. Quite puzzling because I'm not sure it's intended or hsa couldn't manage this "problem".

So for me when it's on sound is more engaging and in the head. Better focus on music.

When it's off sound is cleaner and sound stage becomes wider. Overall sound is more effortless but music looses focus a bit. What I usually call a "study music sound" ^^

Lee hears the same thing, hopefully he reads your post and tunes in.

I always leave it off, the beeping noise would drive me up the wall. Even if there was a preferable difference with the sound on, I'd opt to leave it off anyway.
