I will try that. Something interesting has happened today. I used your method of using MP3Tag last night and turned on the player this morning. It took 20 minutest o go through 2590 files with a 64 gig Sandisk SDXC Extreme class 10(retail package from Amazon card). So, while at work I decided to install MP3tag here and re-clean the tags on the player itself. Now the player only reads 168 files and freezes, where I have to reset the player. Have you ever run into this? This should be no different than my Sansa Clip+ as it is a MSC device.

Edit: I am doing a full format on the external card using Fat32 Format, there are some files that would not delete, so this should possibly fix the issue.

You need to format the Sandisk SDXC card into FAT32 first or it will not work properly. Simply click on the program icon itself to download the program from the link below. Ensure you format the 64 GB card itself and not the internal memory.

Turns out that no matter what card I put in, the Studio V reads 4 phantom albums that are no longer there and not the data(albums) off the card.  I have reset it but that does not work. Does anybody know how to get it to read my SD cards again?

Edit: I decided to reformat my player. I tried doing it on my main work pc, but Eset was blocking it. Since I am the IT support technician here, I have dozens of computers at my disposal and went to one that I had recently re-imaged. I logged on with my admin account, un-installed Eset, followed the instructions you guys had here and it seems to be back to normal, it no longer shows the phantom files, and reads cards.

To solve your issue with phantom files all you needed to do was delete the "system folder" from the internal memory and then eject and restart the player. That would have fixed your issue most likely. When you add or remove a bunch of files you need to always delete the system folder or you will have issues. This forces the Studio V to update all the files it has stored on it. So when you switch out micro SD cards you also have to do this. Regarding your tags and the unit taking long to load? With about 2,500 songs on my device it starts up in about 35 seconds. That is with clean tags.

The Rocoo BA has the least amount of hiss to my knowledge. Probably around half the hiss of the Studio V 3rd ANV. It's quite minor IMO. But I can't say it has virtually no hiss. Now for most users that would most likely be the case but for people sensitive to hiss like myself it may still be an issue.

OK, I was advised to be sure it isn't just a dead battery by charging using the wall charger instead of usb/PC charge, do I did. After about a day, no better. Interestingly, the unit goes on while charhing, the 3 logos alternate, so it's not fully dead. When I disconnect, though, it goes dead again. Press the center buttin, nothing hapens. Plugged it back in, why not, but don't expect much. One of these days, have to contact Jack Fu, arrange another China trip. I think it has spent as much or more time in transit than in my house.

Hmm so you think it's the batter not holding the charge? Was your unit getting super hot when it was charging? Where you able to power the unit on and use it while charging? This was the case with my first 3rd ANV unit.

I remember this happening to one of my Hisound players(not sure which one), I thought it was a gonner, but somehow I brought it back to life.
Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what I did. I just kept messing with it, and managed to get it to boot up again.

If I remember, I'll be sure to let you know.

It really sucks that you've had so much trouble with it. I think the best thing to do is, as someone suggested earlier(I think).
If you send it back to China, when you get it back, just put it up for sale on here and be done with it.

Actually earlier in the thread I mentioned that I had used the gui version from that url last week or the week before, so that is a non-issue. About the system file that is god to know because that is not documented in the "manual" that came with this. That sounds like that should be addressed by hisound to me in future releases. Even my low-end Sansa clip+, that is not an issue. I believe a also mentioned earlier in the thread that I had used your guide, I removed all comments and so on. I moved to purely FLAC files now and am at just 300 files(will build up more of the library tonight), but the card initialization is down to under 4-6 seconds.

I have run into this morning where the player was running a checkdisk on my external media and I had to reset it and it started to work fine. Have you experienced this?

I generally only get a checkdisk error on windows if the hardisk or card itself wasn't properly ejected and upon reconnecting sometimes I'll get that message to check the disk for errors.

I no longer use FLAC on the player and stick with WAV. Although FLAC is very convenient for storage and some form of tag support.

This did not happen when connected to the pc, then I would have understood why it was doing it. This happened when I was sitting on my couch. It has been working fine since. I don't know if I could hear a huge difference between WAV and FLAC.  Check this out:

Well then it could just be an error.

The difference I hear between the formats on the player is noticeable enough for me to want to stick to WAV. I'm not saying that FLAC sounds absolutely horrible or that the sound difference between them is so huge you don't even have to try to hear any such differences. But going back and comparing the same tracks in both WAV and Flac I could hear a noticeable difference where I felt it was worth the gain in sound quality to do so :). Now if you don't hear any difference then that is a plus for you as you can save space and go through less hassle :).

Can't turn it on while charging, the 3 opening screens just cycle. The minute I disconnect the Studio it's dead. Don't recall it running unusually hot, but these things often get somewhat hoy (my National amp gets hotter than I can remember the Studio ever getting)

it's my second Studio V 3rd ann. My first has been stolen...

I just received it with the new firmware...Am I the only one who finds it to have more clean, transparent and dynamic sound? With my EM6 it's incredible... so much authority, fluidity, air and presence... the bass is so airy, textured and natural....

Are you talking about the DT-Dynamic firmware from 12-23-2011? I know that Jack has new firmware he says will be released soon, but I have not seen it surface yet.
