With the Clip+, it needs to take several minutes to rebuild the database when a card is switched. With the original firmware, the player is unusable then. Besides which, a second player doubles your battery life. Micro SDHC cards are small. Swapping cards often is not a good idea. At just $30 for a 2GB Clip+, buying a second player is no big deal.

Hey, long time reader but first time poster, thought I would share what I use.

Galaxy S3 16gig version, 32gig sd + usb otg cable + x3 usb 128gb drives.
I keep my whole music library with me at all times, on top of that if at any point my amp dies, with the USB otg cable I can charge it right then & there.

I can stream uncompressed wav files directly through the drives, poweramp lets you choose which folder to scan for music & bam instantly you have the music you want.

Unfortunately high capacity players are on the decrease, not the increase like it should be. I feel like a few years ago hard drives were common in DAP's and many more were being made. These days flash has taken over and while i love it for it's reliable storage, it's never enough it seems. Soon hopefully someone will figure it out.

Most players that support microSD cards that have come out in the last year should support the current models of 128gb microSD cards. That's because while the switch to microSDXC cards goes on, they havent added the extra pin connection that will enable even more storage.

I've been trying to find a high capacity player with high quality output and I decided on a 240gb iPod Video that's been diyMod'd. I should be getting it soon and I'll finally be able to hold all my music in one place again. I have had much better luck it seems in the past with iPods, so this wasnt a big deal for me. I understand if you dont wanna go with Apple products, but they're a dieing breed, even their iPod Classics havent been updated in two years because of the lack of interest in high capacity. It's a real shame
