At least put some resistors to load match the amp output to see 8ohms. This gave me better sound quality than those with attenuation e.g lpad setup. A good quality 10ohm resistor clipped into the taps would be safe for susvara and abyss. Not the best sound compared to direct but provides more safety.

What's the uh "best practice" for safely connecting a headphone to the speaker taps of a tube speaker amp, and with a minimum of SQ degradation? As a follower of this here thread, I feel like I should know this already, but I don't.

I'm thinking of putting in an order on, say, an Audio Research I/50 (primarily for speakers of course). If I had a reasonable expectation of it doing good things for the Susvara (and friends) as a bonus, that could put my decision-making over the top.
For a tube amp you need resistors in parallel.
If you're unsure you could order a Zynsonix Speakertap Adapter Box

Thanks- this is much appreciated. The issue with Holo (in this country at least=US) is that their DACs are made to order and non-refundable ie demo would need to take place either at a CanJam (if they go to those) or informally via meeting another user who has one. I live in a big city in the central US though- there may be somebody hereabout or nearby who has one they’d be willing to let me demo. Who knows I might make a new friend in the process! But before that I’ll search the forum to see if anyone else has posted on the pairing with my current gear.
my susvaras and may kte dac bring the best out of each other.

the kte is NOT a laid back as some describe the may. I think they are talking about the non kte versions. (i have not heard the other may versions nor the spring)

i would not say the dac over pushes the sound “in your face” but it definitely brings it out to you. I hope that makes sense. It is not laid back.

Very good sound separation and width. It’a depth is a little lacking in comparison.

i have found, likes others that it keeps gradually improving over the first 500 hours. Took about 50 hours or so to start finding its grove and say improved going up to 300 hours and again to 500. Toughly speaking.

the susvaras and holo may allow both to shine.

With the may KTE i would stay away from a bright amp or brighter cables. Neutral amps are fine. i found the may is responsive to what you use in the chain.

Most important make sure you have a quality amp to fulfil (most of) the susvaras potential

I am confident the holo spring should also work well from what i have read.

** i put the best amp i could afford in place (for the susvaras - niimbus for me) before i upgraded my dac

and yes the susvaras are superb WDW (when driven well)

hope that helps a bit

ps with a grain of salt (as i have only heard the may kte) if your budget had you choosing between the may level 2 or spring kte, i would lean to may level 2.

can anyone share a good or bad story of getting a set of the Susvara from a site that allows returns...
I bought headphones from Moon Audio. The company actually lets you make a return to a local store. Save all the packaging, etc. Saves the return shipping cost.

If I may ask, is this pattern similar on both drivers under the same light?

Hi, no the look different, made pictures from left and right.
This looks normal for the Susvara. If you search this thread, you'll find several similar pictures posted. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it. There are spotty gold traces and both sides appear totally randomly spread out, like your pics show. This doesn't seem to impact the sound.
