HiFiMan Susvara

Skipped stock as what's the point. Primarily used the Mullard ECC82/CV491 and Gold Lion Genalex. I'd avoid Mullards as they're far too warm/syrupy. My buddy stated how dreamy sounding the Riviera can be, it feels apt. Euphoric and encompassing.

Definitely demo yourself.

Sounds good. Mind if I ask what the general voicing of the cfa3 is to follow this up? Tbh I cant seem to find general voicing talked about anywhere

Neutral, dynamic and controlled. Lots of owners seem to find the treble response quite smooth. Especially when compared to xyz on the commercial market.

When you say netrual do you mean more of a GSX-mini neutral with a bit of body to it? Or more of a GSX mk2 neutral?

This is a bit convoluted; the GS-X from the Dynalo has always felt more dry and edged -- the SuSy Dynahi (similar to GS-X mini) imparted a little warmth and now the CFA is more neutral but not recessed in "spirit" it sounds (right) clean, involving and extended.

Deleted because I did not pay close enough attention!
That's not bad if it can drive the Susvara well!

I like how they conveniently put this in the picture:

if it’s like OG then it’s ok tad soft , as a pre to a power amp with susvara its really good

so the likes of Benchmark AHB2 are amongst the best in class in terms of dynamics and slam for Susvara even in single MONO-setup, right?

The uberamp was designed as a power amplifier optimized to the uberamp2 to drive the near-zero impedance ribbon SR1a as direct-drive.

My bias is known, the Bakoon AMP-13R now Enleum 23R just isn't good enough compared to a CFA3. The AIC-10 is very soft and warm sounding and likely isn't a good match with Susvara -- it mated politely with the TC. But it depends on your preference and targets you're trying to achieve.
wow, for the first time you acknowledge it is indeed subjective

Day 3 with CFA3 & Susvara, I still can’t get over how explosive the dynamics are with this pairing. I’ve never heard Susvara with this much energy and slam. The depth and layering is just incredible, it’s like the big bang where this one super dense and heavy material exploded and create an ever expanding universe and space in all direction. All this with the sound remains very very natural. And yes, CFA3 makes 13R sounds softer and even thinner in comparison, but somehow the tonality is more natural and lifelike than 13R. Now I still don’t know what I’m gonna do with 13R, either use it as a secondary amp for desktop listening in front of my mac or sell it and get some new stuff 😁 (CRBN/X9000 + Megatron combo comes to mind or perhaps LCD-5).

My thoughts exactly. I’d likely use it in place of mine WA22 Heater as a pre and be able to tube or not. 8W or so at 60ohms should make for an interesting listen all its own with such a resolving can as the Sus.

Yes, sure. I'm only sharing I've a long list of gear I've heard in contrasted form. Your beloved 13R sounds good to your ears.

Some will still love their Empyrean no matter how much I don't think of it.
