HiFiMan Susvara

I just have to give a shout out to @Slim1970 for recommending the original Burson Timekeeper because it partners so well the TT2 and Susvara. It’s so sweet, transparent and musical and I found the slight warmth and slight emphasis on the low end to be exactly what the Sus needs! Susvara sounds complete, thank you ☺️ It’s got custom linear power supply, fully discrete, no integrated circuits—they kept it simple and super high quality and built like a tank. This amp is a discontinued classic and it’s not easy to find one but thankfully I found one fo sale locally only ~800usd. All the silver together looks yum 😋
Nice setup, love the stand you have for the TT2. The shelves for the headphones are an excellent touch, ingenious actually! The Timekeeper is a beast of an amp. It has the old Burson sound which works great for headphones like the Susvara.

Thanks, @Slim1970 the TT2 stand is a bamboo laptop stand from Amazon. The shelves with glass doors are from Ikea. I've got a whole wood theme going on in my setup.

I agree, Burson Timekeeper is really good. I totally feel like I got one of the best amps available for the Sus (albeit it might be hard to find nowadays). If I find another one for sale, I just might get another so I can use two in bridged mono mode.

That would be insane using two of them. 240 watts in each ear is crazy powerful and completely overkill, but I totally get it :). If I come across another one I might pick it up as well. Just incase I decide to go to a 2-channel setup. The wood theme looks fantastic, btw!

Is yours finally in sight?
Thank you for asking ThanatosVI.
They are building me a completely new one. Been told another 8 weeks wait.
In the meantime my local UK Hifiman Dealer has loaned me a Pathos Inpol Ear which is very nice.

This album is really outrageously good. I don't even like this kind of music normally, but this is a special album :L3000:

I dig all her albums actually. Even got all of them in vinyl too.

Now speaking of them clicks, not all of them are that bad... I like my best ones deployed in a wide, spacious, and layered soundstage, like clicks you might hear approaching your door on a weekend night, with extended highs, a lot of headroom, separation, and air around all instruments...

Yes, this type of clicking could keep my susvara singing all night long...

I'm immediately reminded of The Girlfriend Experience by your post.

100% yes. The front 6.35 outlet on the TT2 is nowhere near powerful enough to drive the Susvaras adequately (same with the TCs).

The speaker taps adapter arrived today so I can finally use the TToby with my TT2. Happily, I can say I can hear a marked improvement over the 6.35 single ended connection. It sounds that bit more fuller with the TToby. I will be spending a lot more time with this over the weeks, but initial feeling is positive as to what the TToby adds.

just sharing:

i was listening to a couple of (ripped to aiff) tom waits albums last night with the susvaras and was amazed how natural and detailed they sounded, particularly having been recorded about 45 years ago.

A lot of songs not particularly heavy with lots of instruments but still...wow!!!

Blue Valentine and Small Change

and "Kentucky Avenue" on Blue Valentine always stirs my emotions
