HIFIMAN Releases New Flagship DAP "R2R2000"

Interesting, I'd prefer a device that small with a screen. With excellent sound, stable firmware, and fast smooth UI. U8 was close, but had some problems for me.
I guess the screen and volume knob gave way for 4 dac and true lineout. The 4 dac has gotten me excited, R2R2K is pretty dynamic with 2 dac, 4 dac should increase the dynamic range more.

Not really even sure how 4 dacs can be utilized in an audio circuit. I'd like to hear the red though.

How would that work with regular stereo recordings though?
Same way adding more core to CPU improves performance. It aims to lower THD noice and improve on dynamic range.

For loading the work from one chip into two, there is a FPGA before the dac that does that signal splitting for each channel.

Yes almost every dap now uses a FPGA chip in the signal path, I can understand a dual mono mode, but this sort of sounds like mumbo jumbo.

Especially when snr ratio is through the roof and jitter and thd+noise are inaudible in modern daps.

It doesn't really matter to me anyways because without a screen it's a no go. I just liked the size, but if I HAVE to use my phone with it nope.

Wow indeed I thought the PCM1704 was extinct.

That's why I'm confused as well. 1704k was extinct, Hifiman did LTB (last time buy) to acquire the remaining stock, thus Red uses 1702 instead. But HM1k uses 4 of them (1704k)? And there is no display or external volume wheel, so is it still considered to be a DAP or a streaming DAC/amp?

I am suspicious about 1704 too)))
There’s screen on the left side, big one. And I think there’s sound buttons instead of wheel.
