R2R2K, DD IEM world explodes...
Q-6
I used a hot gun and vacuum velcroI want to open the back cover of hifiman r2r2000 to change the battery. Who knows how?
this dap is packed to the brim! no wonder it sounds good even when it's so small, is there 1mm that isn't being occupied by electronics??Last year one of my pcm1702 chips died, at first I felt rales in one channel, then the sound disappeared, I don't remember if I tried ECO mode, but I think it works on another audio chip.
My dealer (in Ukraine) mailed to HIFIMAN, but for a month they did not help. I decided to repair it myselfI, ordered 2 similar chips from Aliexpress, they looked different, because they are now made by another manufacturer, TI, not BB.
I was afraid that they might sound different, or it's a copy of the chips, but the seller assured that it was the original. After resoldering the two chips I turned on the player, everything worked well and sounded identical, I missed it)
Then I tried to modify (I/U), I replaced the big resistor and capacitor next to it, tried different brands and combinations, something sounded worse than the original something better, but the best sounded with tantalum Shinkoh resistor and glass-ceramic capacitor - this is another level of sound, I recommend! (Photo before replace)
The circuit on top is covered with copper protection, which has one level with 4.4 jack, so the rest of the places are free, you can also not use this protectionthis dap is packed to the brim! no wonder it sounds good even when it's so small, is there 1mm that isn't being occupied by electronics??
thank you. Open the back cover to find the battery at all or do I need to disassemble any other parts?I used a hot gun and vacuum velcro
The battery is glued just under the black cover, as in the photothank you. Open the back cover to find the battery at all or do I need to disassemble any other parts?

bigger battery is the biggest improvement, better caps and resistors, big maybe on different op amps, ada4625 was attempted and it caused high distortion, if there's space somehow, there is a slim chance I'll convince npaudio to try the burson v6 vividsIf I may ask, what is the purpose of this extra enclosure? It's intriguing to say the least!

If not, then stock opamps stay I'll try to ask about class A biasing for it tho.
personally there isn't much to upgrade in the r2r2k, but the battery was always a bit so-so.. and if it's getting sent for mods, might aswell go all out right?

Mainly work longer, for sure, but if caps and resistors are replaced I can only assume SQ will improve too? I don't know, not too knowledgable at these things..A battery mod is a nice idea for sure. Are you doing this just so the product can work longer, or sound better? Or both ?

Something like the Ifi diablo is another device that I held in very high regard in terms of SQ, however portability wise it just didn't fit my lifestyle.
One thing for sure is that I think I'm biased towards burrbrown chips, I adore both the pcm1704k on the r2r2k and the dsd1793 on the ifi diablo, not sure why, but music is just so much more lively from BB chips.
One of the reasons I'd be super interested in an ifi dap is because ifi seems to use mainly BB chips, along with having good prices and good power output
