HIFIMAN announced a new DAP HM650 on June 8, 2014. Looks like it's HIFIMAN's answer to the X5 and DX90.

HM650 with the new UI

It features the same stepped attenuator found on its bigger brothers.

Specs are almost the same as the HM802's while the color scheme and the controls are different. Also the HM650 doesn't accept digital input and hence no DAC functionality.

DAC chip: WM8740 x 2
S/N: 106 +/- 4dB
Weight: 250g
Dimension: 117x72x29mm (same as HM901)
LPF: OPA627x2
Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz
Distortion: 0.008% (LO)
Battery life: 9 hours
Format supported: Same as 802 except DSD

The HM650 can make use of 802/901's accessories such as battery, amp cards, dock etc.

Available at Head-Direct at $449: https://www.head-direct.com/Products/?act=detail&id=226

End of the road for the 601/602/603
What a great product line it was, my 601 is still working perfectly and when matched with a good amp
can give many a new super dap a run for it's money.

Would be interesting if the 650 continued to use the same Philips DAC chips!

I think it can make use of the same accessories as the 901/802 (amp cards/dock/battery etc)

Yeah I guess it will be warm, judging from the sound signatures of the 802 and the 901.

Interested to see their take on Bluetooth headphones.
Bluetooth is getting better and better. Maybe one day we will see quality sound from a pair... Maybe this pair...
Probably not but I am yet to find a pair of hifimam ear/headphones I didn't like something about :)

i am so so eager to know more about the HM650 plz provide more info, and when will it be released and what price

Jun 8, 2014 at 9:13 PM Post #14 of 493
Launch date in China should be some time in July.
Price is TBD but should be less than RMB3000 (USD $480).

That's all I know for now!

Judging from what I have read so far, it would seems HM650 is HM802 without the scroll wheel and stepped attenuator. If it indeed is keeping the same sound, then the sub$500 price will be quite a bargain..

Really dig the white color myself.
