He-500 arrived today. Amazing headphone, definitely a significant upgrade from my DT 990 Pro. Those vocals

ooh nice choice on your DT 990 and upgradeing to the HE 500, I felt the HE 400 was the most linear upgrade to the DT 990 I've heard to date, the two share very simmilar sound sigs [I still prefer the DT 990 upper mids though]

although ironically, the HE 4 is also a SUPER linear upgrade to the... DT 880! It's funny, but I think hifiman decided to copy the Beyer Open Back duo when they made these two cans :3, can't say I blame them though, and best of all the Ortho's sadly kick their Dynamic Breathern to the curb!

...as promised earlier in this thread, here a short write-up about my very positive experience with angled ear-pads for the HE-400...

Where did you get these angle ear pads?

E-Bay from a seller in Shanghai, 38U$. For that money of course just artificial leather.... I really wish I had them in real leather...
You can search them in the bay under: "Replacement Cushion For Denon AH D2000 D5000 D7000 Headphones"

They are at www.lawtonaudio.com. Click sale items. They are not the angle pads but denon pads ($45). I like the fostex pads a bit better because of the larger ear hole. Makes my he-500 sound a bit more open. Whoever makes the fostex pads available to the public has a big money maker imo. since some of the first th-600 and 900 owners pads are starting to wear out and work awesome for hifimann headphones. Of course hifimann is coming out with new pads with the he-400i and 560. Nice to see that someone else is impressed with the denon/fostex pads. I am as well.

Does the Fostex fit well with Hifiman he400?
