IMO the Aya is absolutely magnificent with the Luxman. It's amazing what that $1,600 headphone is capable of sounding like. I haven't heard a lot of headphones by any means but from the ones I have heard, from multiple manufacturers, it has to be one of the best values in headfi.

I have heard the Arya and it belongs to my son. We both prefer the He1000se and not by a little. Goes to show we all have our preference. In fact I have Arya, He1000v2 and He1000se all together at the same time and my preference is still the He1000se. Next is the v2 and then Arya.

That makes me feel comfortable about my HE1000se purchase. I can't wait for them to get here.

That also depends on your partnering gear. I almost got to sample the Luxman p750u because a friend has it with his Susvara and He1000v2. No idea if the Luxman is warm or neutral. He sold off his Susvara and kept the v2 gwad knows why. :)

Luxman is so smooth and musical, should pair brilliantly with HEK (I loved it with Utopia when I was auditioning).

Luxman was underpowered for the Susvara (obviously just guessing here), plenty of power for HEK.

I was told that if I ever get the Susvara to use the "high sensitivity" setting.
Maybe that was your friend's case?
I'm sure it was tried though.

Finally picked these up. They are very fine. They are joining my HE1000V2. I still EQ them a fair amount though. Otherwise, they are completely satisfying for my Classical/orchestral/acoustic musics listening. Just what I was hoping for. I still like the V2, but I think the SE is indeed an improvement. Faster, cleaner, more refined, more controlled. A cleaner, more refined top end. Actually a little less bright or sharp than the V2, to my ears. It compliments/contrasts with my Empyrean and LCD4 nicely. Excellent headphone.

@Arcamera Congratulations! Enjoy!
You say they are a little less bright than the V2. Interesting and good to hear.

My new 1000SE are currently sitting in a UPS location and I will be there when the doors open at 9a.m. Can't wait. The plan is to replace my longtime favorite Arya.

@UntilThen Simply Beautiful! You're lucky.

I will post a picture when my 1000SE arrive.

Yeah, before I got them I read impressions that thought the SE was brighter. Technically could very well be. But somehow it sounds cleaner/more controlled to my ears. For instance, I feel the need to EQ the treble down a little less on the SE compared to the V2. Go figure. YMMV of course and all that. Either way, I'm glad to be part of the club.

Now, even though I'm pretty content, how long will it be before I start saving for the Susvara? Alas, "Welcome to Head-Fi..."

@Arcamera regarding your Susvara comment, I said the same thing and I haven't even received my SE yet.
Hahaha!

...

(starting to cry), Oh God please make the madness stop.

I own Ananda, Arya and HE1000SE. By far my favorite headphones are the HE1000SE, but I need to EQ them so I only listen to it with my Hugo TT2. They are way too bright and intense without EQ. But, when you bring to the highs back into balance, there is nothing better for me. The bass response and resolution of the HE1000SE are so much better than the Arya.

That said, I love the Arya and its tuning. When I am using my DX300, I prefer the Arya due to a tuning preference as I do not EQ my DAPs.
