Anyone upgraded from HE1000se to a Susvara? I am deciding for another desk HP to partner with my HE1000se and my options are Abyss 1266 phi tc or Susvara. I want to keep my HE1000se so I still have TOTL headphones that can be driven by portables. Chose to sell my Empyreans to fund either a 1266 or Susvara. What’s the group’s opinion on what might be a better partner to HE1000se?

What are your options to drive them?
IMHO, I would go Susvara if I wanted to maintain similar sound sig from home to portable.

I would be driving them out of TT2 XLR outs. Are the sound sigs very similar? Because I think it would probably be more worthwhile to get a variety than two HPs sounding kinda similar

To be perfectly honest with you, I don't think the XLR out is going to do justice to the Abyss nor Susvara. It may drive them loud but may not drive them well or up to expectations. If you're looking for different, Abyss is the way to go then

It’s ok, I’ve already experienced both out of the XLR outs and with different amps too. For Susvaras I understand that a separate amp will be needed down the road as an upgrade path. However, TT2 for Abyss will be more than adequate and a discussion on amps for the 1266 becomes a matter of taste for different amp sound sigs, and not whether the amp is sufficient. Thanks for the response! Seems Abyss is the way to go for
1) sound sig variety since I already have HEKse
2) better matching with TT2, with susvara being driven to “serviceable” levels whilst 1266 phi tc being driven to more optimal levels.

I now have a HEKse on the way to complement my Solitaire P, and to pair with Shanling M30. Is it still being delieved with 3.5mm / 6.35mm and XLR cables? I am thinking of reterminating the 3.5mm cable with 4.4mm. How good (robust) is the stock cable?

Yes it comes with all 3 cables mentioned. Soundwise the stock cables are okay but the plastic-like enclosure may impose issue of comfort for some users.

Interested to hear your comparison. To me, Utopia and HEKse are close in tonality, but differ significantly in other aspects.

To be clear, you're saying you have now had 4 Utopia driver failures in less than 5 years? Ugh!

No other hp have the same caliber as Utopia.....
I believed I heard the original he1000 in 2018.
It just doesn't WOW me at all or just too tired of listening all audio hifi from Show before going home that day....
