I think I'm deciding between the HEKv2 Stealths and Arya Stealths for my next headphones.
These will primarily be for cinematic experiences - action, sci-fi movies and single player gaming (RPGs like The Witcher, Skyrim, Final Fantasy and space games like Elite Dangerous). Most of the music I listen to is J-pop/rock and K-pop with female vocals and both of these look good for those, but I am mostly looking for the cinematic side of things.

The best Hifiman for movies is the Arya V2. It has the largest soundstage along with the heaviest bass. In fact, movies are the only reason I am keeping them around.

wait- you are saying the Arya bass is heavier than the HE1000 v2 Stealth's? Bc that would be quite disappointing to hear and not what Ive heard from others.
Do you mean it's tighter or more plentiful or with better bass extension? Other tonally or what?

Bass from the Arya V2 has the most weight behind it. It has the most slam. It isn't the tightest, most detailed or most extending. Just the heaviest.

I see it quite differently.
When we talk about impact, body and slam, my order is like this:

1. V2 Stealth
2. Arya Steahlt
3. (Far behind) Arya V2

Just for reference go watch Joshua Valour's HE1000SE review and GoldenSound's HE1000V2 review.
They both listen to them side-to-side and conclude that the Arya V2 has much heavier bass.

It may be heavier but I can't stress how much more engaging the v2s is for bass, I basically found rock and metal limp on the aryav2, whereas it's some of my favourite on v2s.

And even then I'm not sure that the v2s isn't heavier. So much of this is so source dependent

Right, I am not claiming the heavier bass is better for music. For movies, it is absolutely a plus.
I am plugging both of them into the same source which is the Burson Conductor 3R at the moment. Honestly, at the same dB, it's not even close.
May have different results with a different source, I don't know.

It's because the Arya V2 is quite a step below in dynamics

The improvement / change in sound, that runs through all Hifiman models, that have received a Stealth upgrade / update, has always been the same in the bass range:
more control, more punch, more slam, thus more impact.
That is my impression.

In general, that is what I've read too. But I compared these headphones extensively for 2 weeks and came to the same conclusion as both Josh Valour and GoldenSound - the Arya V2 has the heaviest bass. It was apparent from the very start. And the HE1000V2 has the softest bass, that was obvious from the start too.
