If the Hekv2 has a better soundstage than Arya V2, I would consider that an end-game sound signature for me.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. When I went back to Arya V2 last night it sounded a bit veiled in comparison. Maybe my brain is adjusting from HEKV2 sound, idk.

Hey guys, my HE1000 pads are done. Are the V2 and SE version the same as V1? TY

AFAIK, Hifiman has standardise all the pads of the egg shape models.

Since yesterday I am also the owner of the HE-1000V2.
Already after a few minutes it was clear that it is a hit.
This headphone takes one on a fantastic journey. I do not know how to put my enthusiasm into words. But at this Hifman comes very close to my ideas of a perfect headphone. If you look at my signature, that's saying something.
No matter what genre, it sounds stunning!

PS. the HE-1000 V2, sounds more like I wanted the LCD-5.

Why 'almost perfect'? What's missing or needs improvement?

Do you like the soundstage?

Shape is the same, but SE pads can’t be used on V1 & V2. Protective screens are part of v1 & v2 pads, but built into SE cups.

This album is one of the very best I've heard in terms of sound quality.

On the HE-1000 V2 it is a unique experience.
Full of awe, in a state of shock, you enjoy the sound that is hurled at your eardrums.... Unbelievable...

Here are my settings. Based on Oratorys. Harman as a starting point is obligatory for me.

Is HE1000 v2 enjoyable with classic rock (Dire Straits, Springsteen), ballad rock and vocals (especially male vocals) ?

Absolutely

Definitely not bad, but I would say less so than HEKse. To me, the best part of the upgrade from v2 to SE is the warmer/fuller mids, and that directly affects male vocals.

Both the artists you mention come up pretty frequently on my random playlist -- a lot of Mark Knopfler solo stuff as well.

JMHO of course, and 'from my chain/to my ears'.

Have you tried it with your tube amp yet?

The hek v2 makes good use of a tube amp. I've a WA5 (300b) and it's amazing. No treble problems, mids are glorious and bass is the right amount.

Sometimes for electronic music like The Prodigy, I plug to the chain my ifi Pro iCan (preamp) to boost the bass response and have that SS slam and speed.

The TA-30 is sold.
In retrospect, I have to admit to myself that it was a kind of desperate act to fill the signal with distortion from the tube to counteract the "sharp-edged" character of the Arya Stealth.
In the end, however, nothing beats an ultra-clean amp like Topping's.
The HE-1000 has a "gentle" character and does not need any suspicious additions like distortion of a tube.

As I said, all my statements about the sound of the HE-1000 V2 are to be seen in connection with the Harman curve.
When I look at the frequency response, then I can well imagine that one or the other finds these headphones too dominant in the highs.
That would certainly be due to the peaks at 3, 5, and 6khz.

But something like that can be fixed quickly thanks to oratory.

What about the soundstage difference of the HekV2 vs SE?

Some have stated that the Stealth Magnets also shrank the soundstage in the He1000s series just like the Arya series.
Like the Arya SE, the trade-off was a smaller soundstage for higher resolution / details, closer mids, bass and more power efficiency.
I guess there is an inverse relation between sound stage and bass and maybe other attributes. When sound stage is small, all musical elements are placed closer together in a smaller room setting, while with a large sound stage they are more spread out in a larger musical hall. It is not difficult to imagine that with a smaller stage, the music is more intense while in a larger stage the music is more open and airy and needs more power as energy is also dispersed to a larger area/volume.
Just a thought. I am no expert.
