Only in passing. Liked the 845 sound, but not the ergonomics (for headphones) of this Integrated amp.
I would recommend more the 300B based Cary and Woo for the HE1000, among the other tube amps I have tried.
Currently, the tube output section of the Nagra HD DAC suits the HE1000 the best, in my view.
Was there anything sonically offensive about the amp paulchiu? Ergonomics aside, this amp outputs 26 pure 845 SET watts at the headphone tap! It should be a beast, but I'm curious about your sonic impressions. Especially vs the amps you describe. Thanks!

I was referring to the Nagra...I've heard Nagra gear before, at shows, they are incredible, but dear...
($6k ain't chicken feed either, but kinda in line with the HEK)

oh no, the 845 amp shines with plenty of power for the HE1000 or any headphone for that matter. There was a LCD-3 around and the signature bass of the 845 shines through the LCD-3.
It is the mid-range and how beautiful violins and female vocals sounds with the smaller 300B SET that does it for me.
By ergonomics, I mean the heat generated by the 845 versus the 300B. The larger SET feels a lot hotter, especially in the summer months. Of course, if your room is cool and quiet enough, that is not a concern. The obvious issue for me is the location of the 1/4 jack for the headphones, you can burn your fingers if not careful.
Apart from this, your amp is a solid performer and should be auditioned for your kind of music.
I recommend it highly for truly impressive low end of the frequency range.
Thanks for the context - much appreciated. I've heard great things about the Cary. I'll see if I can grab a listen to it somewhere with the HE1Ks. Cheers.
Here's the Cary with Emission Labs 300B XLS.
At times, I listened to the Cary driving HD800 using Nagra HD DAC as source. I prefer this way versus Nagra straight to the Sennheiser.
For both K812 and HE1000, there is no need for the Cary 300 SEI, the Nagra does everything perfectly.

Indeed, numbers did not explain everything. I look forward to auditioning the Mal Valve this year. I have not given up on the HD800. Also looking forwards to the HD800S and see if that version works much better with the Nagra HD DAC.
