I was not talking about durability (well, I don't like wood - not a very convenient material IMHO)... I was primarily talking about internal contruction (related to openness and resonances), mod-ability, pad-mounting mechanism, weight distribution (included headband design and its implementation on the headphone) and these things. Audeze headphones are flawed in all these aspects in my opinion.

Good point. Might want to get ahead of the for sales... I've already given up on an f1j until I find out if these babies can eat speaker power!

Almost certainly yes (if the price is not too extreme), I would say. The same as with HE500s after releasing the HE560 (though I don't really understand why since both headphones are quite a bit different).

Tried them out today at the show and they're definitely lighter and more comfortable than the HE-500/HE-6. The weight/comfort was on par with the HE560.

That's it. I'm in. Any word on how well (or badly, hopefully) they're driven? Will I need to sell my speaker amp as well?

I more than likely will never sale my HE-6s.  I purchached the 560 but returned them.

I tried these a few weeks ago as well, though under NDA until today.  They're really pretty decent through his EF1000.  A good successor to the HE-6, though lighter.  Fang puts a lot of design into these.

Alright, if anyone tried them personally, could you please comment on their tonality? This is something that one can evaluate roughly even in meet/conference conditions... Are they more similar to HE-6 or HE-500?

The EF1000 looks pretty big.  So does it sound like these will need heavy amplification?
