Thanks Prashant, for both the amp and the advice. A part of me believed the Odyssey was an unnecessary purchase since my speaker plans were put on hold, but it's definitely come into play with the HE6 :)

Aw, well if it helps I would have been pretty stoked if I picked it up at the price you did.  I still have to locate those hifituning fuses!  I haven't forgotten, once this move actually gets underway sometime this summer, they should reveal themselves and net us some lunch money.

I've liquidated most of my serious gear, but still have my speakers, if anyone here in the NYC/NJ area is interested in a pair of $4K Devore's (Super 8s) at about 1/4th that price, let me know!

Need some help here guys:

How about plugging the HE-6 direct to one of these tube amps. Its rated at 10Wx2 and the HE-6 should be able to handle it.

Might even go for the 15W/ch model if its safe enough.

BTW, those Chinese 6P1 power tubes? You can also use the Russian 6P1P-EV.

So the resistor simply tacks on to the speaker connections and them the plugs simply go in and its all good.

By the way, what would be the wattage after using the 10ohm resistor? Will it stay 10 watts/ch and change.

Thanks for the pictures mate, they were really helpful in the process.

Cheers mate. I have never had a tube amp before as I listened to many but could not pull the trigger on one.

This amp looks like an inexpensive way to wet my feet in tubes.

Yes, the idea is that the amp will still see an 8 ohm load, unfortunately most of the power will be absorb by the 10 ohm resistor rather than the 50 ohm HE-6 and its proportional.

Or like this by grokit.

Glad you could find it, I'm booted into Windows now and it's somewhere on the Mac side of things....

A bit rich for me since at that price, I might go for a STAX setup.

I am not a big fan of tubes but willing to give them a shot. Any good amps in the $500-1000 range for the HE-6.
