Can't tell you because I have not heard both.  You might want to check the threads here dedicated to amps that drive the HE-6.

Can anyone give some recommendations about amps for he6 that are under $1000? Thank you.

You can get many choice vintage amps for that budget - I paid $400 for my Pioneer SX-1050 for example that drove my HE-6 very nicely and doubled as a speaker amp.

So i can only buy used ones for the vintage amps right?

All my amps have been used. I highly recommend buying used as you get a lot more for the money. A good option would be to look at integrateds listed on audiogon.

If buying new, maybe look at Chinese clone amps too. A Krell KSA-5 klone should be very good performance for the money.

Thank you. I am not against used amp as long as they are easy to find. I will take your advice and look at the integrated amps listed on audiogon forum. I am not familiar with all the audiophile forums except this one. So I hope i can find them according to your advice. Thanks.

The Pioneer is a vintage receiver.  The newest ones are about 30 years old.

If you're willing to stretch your budget a bit, this is an excellent amp for the price: http://app.audiogon.com/listings/solid-state-krell-kav-400xi-integrated-amplifier-silver-2015-07-19-integrateds-77546-friendswood-tx--2

I've owned one before. Keep in mind that you will not lose any money when selling this amp. I paid $1600 for mine (black is worth a bit more) and sold it for $1600. That's absolutely the best part about buying used speaker amps. There's no way I could own an amp that retailed for 12.5k if I didn't buy used.

The aforementioned saw me discreetly remove my HE-6 (re-cabled/modded) and 1978 Sansui G-22000 from the storage facility @ 0400 hours Sunday. Did not get around to any listening till Monday @ 0100 hours. Returning the ensemble Wednesday but big fun putting a few more hours on the HiFiMAN's.

As for comfort, I came from wearing the feather-light Denon's and the HE-6 never felt heavy or otherwise uncomfortable. I've plenty of overnight sessions in the books with

8-12 hour runs under the '6.'

And value? Love getting used pre-owned gears!

Thank you. Looks like pretty good deal. How does Krell kav 400xi compared to schiit ragnarok or violectric hpa-v200, have you tried any of them too?

How does he6 sound like when connecting to Krell kav 400xi? Thanks!
