is it safe to remove the 6 screws in the 560? is this just holding on a grill? there is small hair/fibre inside that I need to get out

At least for people in the US you don't have to ship them to China anymore. I shipped two pairs of rattling / buzzing HE-560's and a cable to HiFiman in New York state yesterday.... Especially if you don't want the trouble of shipping back to China.

What do you mean safe? If you remove the screws in the earcup after you pull the pad you can remove the driver (though it still has wires connecting it to the jacks) and basically all the parts.is it safe to remove the 6 screws in the 560? is this just holding on a grill? there is small hair/fibre inside that I need to get out

Well, B-stock are normally fully functional, but perhaps cosmetically imperfect items. So they wouldn't even be that. I only got one set from Adorama. The other set (also bad) came from another online store (at a higher price).Im starting to think this Adorama sale was a B-stock firesale or something....

Adorama gave me the go ahead to return them for a refund. Gonna just do that.
This is the last pair of HifiMan I'll ever buy. I love the sound but 3 of the 3 I've owned have failed (HE400 tiny screws supporting the driver cup broke, re600 one of the drivers cut out).
If they want to be taken seriously as a big player they need to stop using such crappy construction. When I hold the HE560 next to my Audioquest Nighthawk it's an absolute joke how cheap the HifiMan feels.

Did hifiman quality for the 560 go down after they made revisions? I owned the original when they first came out and build quality was good. I bought another set (also original version) and Jo such issues.
There are a lot of complaints with the adorama sale which is very suspicious. They couldn't have had that much stock where the amount of complaints here is not a significant portion of their sales.

I bought one at adorama at $499 and then git ine directly from adorama at $350. They are really close in quality. I chose the$350 one because the high does not sound too squueky. Refurned the $449 to amazon. I’m still over the moon at the bargain and i live the sound.

There's plenty of first gen versions (with the old cable jacks) that pop up online for sale, and mine are first gen and haven't broken.... I'd say this is some wonderful new issue... :/
You might be right about the QC going a little south with the 2.5mm jack version since my HE400, HE400i (SMC) and 2 HE560 (SMC) are all in great condition with no issues. I also know that a few friends who have the HE400i or HE560 don't have any issues either but they are all the older SMC jack versions.Did hifiman quality for the 560 go down after they made revisions? Looks like that True-Fi app being advertised on the site is now supporting the HE560. I expect it'll be added to their Reference4 product soon as well (they just added the HE400). Might give it a try once it is. I was reading a bunch of reviews about Ref4 in the forums and it seems to have quite a few true believers.

Has anyone gone balanced with these? I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive balanced cable. Right now, I'm leaning towards the ZMF OFC cable. Thoughts?
