English is easier than almost all the languages.

Especially so, as we are all constantly exposed / bombarded by it via the Internet and media in general.

oh yeah... english is like my 4th language but i speak it better than my other mother tongues. Happens if you watch movies/tv shows from america 10-12 hours every day:D. And as it is the language we are taught in our schools, so we are really good at it.

We're talking about English, of course, rather than American?

With the stock grills? Not really, if you rip the fabric off then you can't put it back onto the back of the grills unless you use some sort of adhesive.

I simply remove the whole grill (easily reversible) and just cut out a whole new steel mesh grill to replace it.

Sorry to dig this up but I am a new HE-500 owner and am curious about this.

I gather the grill is just a circle cut piece?

For those who have experience with LCD2/3 and HE-500 - does HE-500 sounds audibly less extended in the bass when listening to actual music and not test tones? I know measurements show that HE-500 seems to be flat down to about 30 Hz, before rolling off, while Audeze cans are flat to well below 20Hz. With some music that has a lot of sub bass content, I sometime wonder if HE-500 could use a bit more extension.

Overall, I would say they are the same. LCD-2 has more a punch in the mid bass area. Although HE-500's bass comes off with more bloom since it doesn't have the midbass punch to the extent that LCD-2 has. So in a way, at times the HE-500 actually feels as it has more sub-bass. You can listen and follow the low bass notes better on the HE-500. While the LCD-2 is good, the mid-bass punch somewhat masks it. Although since it sounds so good, it really doesn't better. Both do bass quite well for all music genres.

In my experience the LCD3 extends down further and has more impact than the HE 500. Soundstage and imaging are better as well. But that is to be expected given the price difference. I wish the LCD3's were as comforable as the 500 though!

HE500s extend easily to 20 Hz with some simple mods (see Part VI of jergpad mod) that are based upon Audeze. IMO the main reason why Audeze bass extends so low is because of its peculiar pad mounting method, with the earpads adhering to the cup, it's really nothing special.

+1

zoom actually explained this to me in great detail before i purchased the HE-500 when i pmed him about it.

i still feel like the sub-bass starts to decrease in volume/feel further back than the LCD-2 at times, but the LCD-2 are like that at times as well. either way, they still both go down very low and have amazing punch and slam that planar headphones are known for.

the bass on the he-500 has great extension.  I can't really imagine it going much lower? I've certainly never felt like I was missing any information.  I don't have a ton of experience with the LCD2 but I never felt like it was any more or less revealing in the lower range.  It's a matter of preference.  I feel I could enjoy both headphones just as well.

I pretty happy with the way my HE500 sounds with Lyr and BB in them but I want just that little bit of sub bass for some songs.

So here my question how much better is the sub bass on the LCD2 compare to the HE500?
