Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Those cables have different connectors on the headphone end. The Amazon one is 2.5mm TRS and the other is 3.5mm TRRS.

Did we ever figure out why the HE-400i has a 2.5mm TRRS connector?

The Amazon cable has 2.5mm TS connectors, not TRS and they are for the HD-700, there is a flat key spot on the extended barrel.

The other one has 2.5mm TRS connectors without the extended barrel so it will not work in a HD-700, I don't know if it will fit the HE-400i due to the connector of the HE-400i being slightly recessed.

I just checked my Amazon account which shows that the HIFIMAN 400i are expected to be delivered by August 2nd.

I am so excited especially after reading the praise on HeadFi.

My excitement is on par with me:
Getting my first car, getting married, getting divorced, telling my first joke successfully, moving into my first Apartment and so on.........

I think i might need some help from Headphones Anonymous. Anyone else feel this, or am i alone.

:D

Not alone.  When I got my R70x I was like damn this is pretty  sweet!  It'll be followed by many other exciting (or perhaps gut-wrenching) purchases.

Does anyone suggest Burn in time in number of hours for the HE400i. I am guessing atleast 50 hours. I do not have any experience with Planar Magnetic headphones burn in, but from my previous Senn HD650 they sounded their best only after 200 hours.

Can't say I know...I'm guessing you aren't completely satisfied with the sound right out-of-the-box?

Didn't notice any changes in the sound of my HE-400i or HD-650 and most of my other headphones due to "burn-in" but my EL8 did change a bit over a 250 hour period, think its just varies between headphones how much they change.

On the one hand I didn't think the HE400i changed too much with burn in. However, if it's your first planar there will be an adjustment period where your brain gets used to the flat bass (instead of the bass hump most dynamics have) and the flat wave front hitting your ear.

I had a 560 for a week.  I liked it a lot when sitting in my chair, with the right amp, and the right EQ setting.  However, I rarely get to listen that way.

Hey there. I remembered you from this thread as being a happy m9xx owner. I'm using the 560 now and really liking them but also thinking about a new amp/dac setup. Did you use the 560 with your m9xx? If so, how was it?
