What you recommend? Portability is mandatory, listening a lot with my phone.

A second vote for the Xduoo XD-05 (with Burson V5i op-amp) - does a fantastic job with the HE400i - my amp of choice for those cans.
The Cayin C5 is also a wonderful amp but the above option beats it for these headphones.

A little late to the party but for me an old Fiio X3 does a great job as DAC/amp for my HE400i and HD700. The interface is not good but the sound more than makes up for it, only problem is you can only find them used and you might have to change the battery if they don't hold the charge. Mine are still good for 8-9 hours but I don't use it much these days since I only use the X3 when traveling.

Any idea of what earpads I could try on these? I love the sound but could do with them being a bit more comfortable.

I've got ZMF Ori pads on mine and the comfort is downright outrageous. They give the bass a bit more extension and presence too. I've got Dekoni Sheepskin TH900 pads on my 560s and those are nice as well. Not as comfortable as the Oris, but they barely alter the stock sound.

I can only second the recommendation for the ZMF Ori pads!
Extremely comfortable and adds a nice touch of sub bass.

Listening on my Keces DA-131 DAC and HA-171 amp I definitely prefer the 400i to the DT880 on Liquid Tension 2. Treble is better defined and guitars crunch much better.
DT880 sounds better on the LDMKIII and now I've gotta get downstairs and listen to the 400 on the LD.

Please anyone here owns the 400i or 400s or 4xx to compare with the HD 58X? I'm not sure which one I should buy

Just got these, they are going for really cheap on ebay these days.

I've been listening to them all day switching occasionally back to my DT880-32 with toilet paper mod. So far, I'm a little disappointed.. I really wanted to like these but I find the DT880's mids a lot clearer and with the toilet paper mod, less sibilant. Will keep listening to them though to break in my brain.

Did you buy used or new?

Used. It came with the angled leather pads to increase the seal and bass.
I've never found my HE400i sibilant but its an original version with the SMC jacks but even the newer version without the back plate and 2.5mm jacks didn't get sibilant either.
The stock pads are Focus pads that are angled and partly leather and to me they don't increase the seal/bass any better than many other pads that I've tried. If you want to give the bass a small boost then I'd suggest attenuation rings since it only affects the bass and none of the other frequencies unlike changing pads which may or may not affect all frequencies.
Another thing to consider is that since you bought them used they might be slightly defective in tuning unless you have heard them in the past.
