Looks wise, He-6 all the way.  If Darth Vader bothered being an audiophile, he would use the He-6 and use the Death star to power them!

The HE-6 is not the Darth Vader it used to be... All hifiman now have the purple hue in the glossy cups (except the 500s which is now glossy gray vs. mat gray).
Even the 5LE and 4 come with that glossy finish, now.

But Dark Vader's armour is glossy too..

well i suppose i should have edited my post as i knew the whole soundstage thing wouldn't work the second i wrote it.  atleast for some it's subjective.  Maybe imaging would be better.  maybe that's a matter of opinion too but in my book if it doesn't image it isn't making music i can comprehend.  crap imaging makes a crap headphone IMB

Comparing the HE-4 to the HE-500, what were the main differences in sound? It seems to get a lot of praise for the treble but in terms of overall neutrality and imaging does the single ended driver stand up to the double ended? I'm extremely interested in the HE-560s if they can exceed(to me) how much in love I am with the HE-500s sound signature, while not requiring a massive amp, that's why I passed on the HE-6 when I was shopping around. I really wanted the LCD 2s but everyone always describes them as warm which I was not looking for in a HP I use predominantly to listen to classical. I'll admit that compared to being in concert the 500 doesn't quite deliver the same feeling of being present with the orchestra in front of me. If the HE-560 has a more spacious sound with the same neutrality I'll buy it day 1.

VADER: Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to power the HD 800s is insignificant next to the power of the Force... not to mention the ability to power the HE-6s

I really never cared for the blue on the HE400.....but I thought most of their other phones looked quite nice.....just something about that blue that I did not care for, can't even put my finger on it.
