Hifiman HE-400i and HE-560: From CES to Pre-Launch

I love my HE-400 but its just too heavy for my liking. He-400i  might fit the bill. What s the specs?

Fang provided some basic specs here in the thread. I quoted them in the original post.

I wonder why he560 when the other one is HE400i and not HE460? Hifiman needs an upgrade program so I can upgrade my HE500 to an HE560

Yeah, I really wonder where they're going with it all. But I'm sure they'll provide a clearer explanation closer to launch.

Where does the 560 stand in the line up?

I'm assuming, with the price adjustment, that it's between the HE-500 and HE-6.  I doubt it'll totally replace the HE-560, if the sound signature is as different as Steve G and Fang say.

Will the bass be on par with LCD-2/3?

Steve G said it was an improvement over the HE-500.

I just got HE-6, should have waited for He-560?

^ ok, I haven't seen these pics until now. The headband looks much nicer compared to the top-down pic they released yesterday. Actually looks a bit more comfortable to wear.

It sounds like Hifiman are listening to the buyers, they are working on making them more efficient, lighter, better pads, and also changing the headband.

The headband looks quite nice in these photos (or are they renders?) compared to the Cnet image though:

Definitely more modern, functional and ergonomic, almost Stax-like (which is fine by me) but still unique enough.  The older style definitely looks more 'vintage' which I also like, but I think it's still a good approach.  I think the color scheme looks better on the HE-400i in these pictures given the new headband materials.  Also, you'll notice if you look close that the SMC connectors appear to be slightly angled towards the front

They look like the same headband...  Except for 2 things, first is that the shot is taken from a different angle, second is that the headbands are adjusted to a different size in these pictures (look at the sliders on the sides).
