Sorry, lol. Still not what I meant. Just to make it simple, does the he500 give more impact than the dt880s as well?

Depends on your amp. That's been my observation - HE500's bass is sentimental, very weak and slightly bloated when underpowered, and very solid and impactful when given enough juice (in my case ~2.5 watts with NFB11.32).

As for impact vs DT880, assuming you got a powerful enough amp setup, it's safe to say HE500 should be more impactful.

If you are stuck with a slightly less powerful amp though, you should go with HE400, unless a powerful amp purchase is on its way.

The he500 is a better hp across the board. There is some sub bass with the hd650 but it just doesn't have the same weight and texture that the he500 does. There is good mid bass on the hd650 that I find musical and fun to listen to.

If you mean the Asgard 2...it's a darn good amp and very versatile with pre-amp outs and the gain switch. But it still can't match the lush musical nature of the lyr or the dynamics for that matter...nor should it given the price difference.

Amperex Orange Globes are basically end game for me. You can spend lot's of money on tubes but those are amazing with the lyr. Look for late 60's vintage. Mercedesman on ebay.

gL!!

I've owned the DT880, HE400 and HE500 and would say that the HE500 has more bass impact than the DT880.
Thanks for the reply, but how much more impact? Would you say it might be dead between the dt880 and dt990 bass?

Would you say that the Magni would be sufficient enough?
