Just a question for those who has the HE1000 or have some knowledge or leather. Are the earpads leather or pleather or some other synthetic leather replicate?

They are certainly better than the HE560 earpads which are clearly pleather, but I got no clue and would love to know.

They are pleather from what I've read, they don't feel like real leather anyway like the Audeze pads. But they also don't get sweaty like those tend too either.

@Cotnijoe I am sincerely sorry for lashing out at you like that. That was wrong of me. Best of luck in the B1 comp!

It wasn't meant to be though.

EDIT: It's an amazing college, one of the top in the country. Don't want anyone to interpret the post otherwise.

Ok, at least now I know what it is that I'm getting that I don't need, and I agree, I don't need it (though I could use something to hold me until the Liquid Carbon congress in a few months) and I'm not getting it...not sure what I posted that made it seem that way :smirk:

Ok, off with my family, birthday dinner at a fine local steak house, yummmm...

(i'll accept a B1 as a present, in case you were wondering) :grinning:

I was asking Cotnijoe that once he has the HE1000, applying for the very limited 10 pcs of review sample of the B1 seemed superfluous. This would apply to many who have sent in their resumes for the B1, that have flagships galore. I am just trying to get my hands on some nice equipment which I actually need. You replied by saying that you like portable gear more than desktop equipment.

There, I think I got it down. Honestly though, we should make some reviewer rules. Yes they have more experience, but many just get a monopoly that they don't end up using.

Thank you @money4me247
for pointing out the thread. I would ask why he's applying but although I do envy his profile there seems to be an empty slot for a good portable amp, lol.

Aha, now I get it...just have to say, have no idea why I got chosen for the HE-1000, didn't even know about the B1...the only thing I can think of, I got my request in for the HE-1000 very quickly, agreed to their terms very quickly as well. I suppose I do have much "stuff", probably too much "stuff", but, hey, I'm probably about 2.5 to 3 times your age, was at your stage eons ago, when buying 9 or 10 LPs for $50-$80 was a major splurge. I understand things look tough when you're just starting out, but, after a while I suppose experience does count for something (and it seems all sorts of folks were chosen). I hope you get chosen for something else you try for.

May the best men win! But I suppose everyone who posted in the Aune thread wants the B1 to a considerable extent, maybe even more than me; I'm just the only one who's been venting, lol. I'm actually not at a bad standpoint right now; I have the Headphone and DAP of my choice, all I need now is a good amplifier. I guess in a few years I will be able to afford quite a few items, so all I'm lacking here is patience and manners. Time to wait...

Spent a good 4 hours after work with these bad boys. I'll save my comprehensive impressions for the impressions thread, but I will say this: This headphone has a much more complex sonic character than I think people have given it credit for. There are little hints buried away in the sound signature, in the articulation, in the staging. This headphone is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Seems like more people are starting to receive their units.

Second batch has arrived in Delaware! All the participants should have their hands on a HE1000 very soon!

Thanks again for everybody's continued patience!

Oy!! Maybe now I can get to you, I've emailed Dr. Bian right after the mini-meet, as requested, and a few months later as well, with no response at all.. I guess he is a busy guy and all, considering he's working on the flagship items.
